Set in Altagracia, 16 km from Maderas Volcano, B&B, family run homestay, Hospedaje La Penita offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

We absolutely loved the welcome Mark and Lisette gave us. The location was fantastic and breakfast and supper is really good. Mark gave us a Salsa workshop, which we really liked. They really did their best to make your stay unique. It is also very nice that you can rent a scooter right from the hostel.

Rainbow Caravan Hostel, hotel in Las Pilas

Situated in Las Pilas, 17 km from Maderas Volcano, Rainbow Caravan Hostel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant.

The place was very clean and tidy, tranquil, and no noise at night which is rare in Nicaragua because there's always someone making some noise. The food was quality, homemade vegan goodness. Making a fire was cool and it has all the modern amenities like a fridge and cooking equipment so you can bring beer. Didn't have any bugs unlike some of the other hostels i stayed in on Ometepe. It's quite a good location equidistance between the two towns and near the start of Volcan Concepción. I recommend renting an ATV rather than a scooter at the port and picking it up in Ometepe, don't trust the people on the San Jorge side. The hostel also offers scooter rental although I picked mine up at port. Very photogenic hostel and peaceful.

I really enjoyed my stay at La Chiponga, the staff was really nice and helpful with facilities and good advices for activities ! They really care about how you feel. The hostel is made of recuperation materials and it’s really good. Monkeys are literally living with you, you can particularly see them on early mornings and sunset time. Very good location, just in front of the beautiful beach of Santo Domingo.

The hostel has a great location and is very lively. Moreover the staff was very helpful and gave nice recommendations in terms of activity. The share spaces were ok too and very welcoming. The breakfast were generous and changed a bit of the usual breakfasts we had elsewhere in Nicaragua.

I’ve been traveling for 2 months in Central America and this was hands down the best hostel I’ve been to. The room was spacious and everyone had enough space for their bags, the outdoor space was gorgeous, from the landscape full of colorful plants and trees to hammocks and spacious outdoor tables for us to use. But mostly I cannot even explain how amazing the hosts were. Thank you so so soooo much Daniela and Tony for treating me and the other guests like family, I’ll never forget you!!!

Danilo is an extremly helpfull and likeable host. We enjoyed our stay at this Hostel a lot. The kitchen is well equipped and you can cook on your own to safe some money. Danilo will provide you with infos and tipps for activities on the island and you can as well rent a scooter or book a volcano-tour directly with him, which is super comfortable.

Nice and helpful staff. They even offered me medicine when I became ill. Cheap and safe rentals available. Especially nice was that I could store some of my luggage there for one night to do a tour around the island.

We planned to spend here just a couple of days but in the end we've been here almost a week. Majela and her family of her are very nice and welcoming. They help you with everything (she even gave us some fruits at around 5 am when we went for a tour to volcano Maderas) and the food she cooks is really good and also really cheap. The hostel is clean and chilled. It's a calm place we really enjoyed. Definitely recommend this place.

A great hostel owned by a lovely family who make everyone feel welcome. It's in a great location, clean rooms, comfortable beds and even has a view of the volcano on the balcony. Rented a scooter through them and had a great day exploring the island. Would have liked to have stayed longer, hope to come back one day.
