Renting a car or bicycle is recommended for getting around. I arrived in the early morning after hiking Mt. Fuji, only to realize that check-in time is at 3 pm – my mistake. The house is managed by a son and his mother, who can communicate only in limited English. However, we managed to discuss my situation, and they allowed me to return at 1 pm for an early check-in. The entire property exudes a sense of history, and the summit of Mt. Fuji can be fully seen from the window of my tatami room (quadruple room), with its peak illuminated by the rising sun at around 5 am – a truly surreal experience.

Guest House Zen is a beachfront property situated in Yamanakako, 18 km from Fuji-Q Highland and 21 km from Lake Kawaguchi. The 1-star guest house has air-conditioned rooms with a shared bathroom and free WiFi. Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. The host was a cool young guy which very chill. You can check-in by your self. He write all guest name in front of the room and just pick the key. Luckily I got the most front room which can see Fuji from inside my room that is the best room I ever got in Fuji area. The facility also in top tier. You get your owned heater air-con in room and also additional another cool heater blower which can blow into blanket and cloth. The room was big the biggest I get to stay in my whole 14 days trip in Japan.

Free private parking is available on site on a first-come, first-serve basis as well as prior reservation. Free shuttle service is available upon prior request from the property to Kawaguchiko Station. Very friendly atmosphere. Nice and clean rooms and also showers. Stuff is really kind, friendly and helpfull. We stayed there only for one night but we really enjoyed it. Best place if you are traveler with backpack and need a shelter for night.

Open from July 2017, Guesthouse Murabito is nestled just a 2-minute stroll away from Lake Yamanaka. A restaurant is located a 3-minute walk away from the accommodation. Great guesthouse! The owners are so lovely and helpful - and speak perfect English. The dorm room is spacious, clean, and has a balcony with a view of Mt Fuji. The common area is beautiful and comfy to hang out in, and has a well stocked clean kitchen. Overall, a great place to stay!
