波奈 浅草 Hana Asakusa ーSkyTree前駅まで徒歩5分ー

Sumida Ward, Tokyo

A recently renovated property, 波奈 浅草 Hana Asakusa ーSkyTree前駅まで徒歩5分ー is situated in Tokyo near Hatonomachidori Shopping Street, Aizome Museum and Tsukada Kobo. The guest house, set in a building dating from 1970, is 1.2 km from Kamejimashogakko Memorial Park and 1.2 km from Sumida Cultural Museum. Tobu Museum is 1.3 km away and Ushijima Shrine is 1.4 km from the guest house. The house structure is interesting (in a good way) We got all the amenities like in the hotels. Everything is clean. We had our first experience on Tatami flooring & how to lay a futon. Unlike other self check-in home stay, Kazuki-san is very friendly that he greeted us himself and we had a small chat which I feel warmly welcomed.

Bell house

Setagaya, Tokyo

The homestay offers a seating area with a flat-screen TV and a shared bathroom with slippers, a hair dryer and hot tub. Additional in-room amenities include chocolates or cookies. At the homestay, units come with bed linen and towels. I booked this room as a "getaway" from the hustle and bustle of Central Tokyo and it didn't disappoint. Located just 8 minutes from Sakurajosui Station, it's in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of character. The host, Yumi, is an amazing person. One of the warmest people I've met on my travels. Clean beds, clean bathrooms, a record player in the shared space. It was a great experience and the value for your buck is absolutely insane. I will say that if you do book here, try to do more than a few days. I felt like I was becoming a part of the neighborhood right when I had to leave after 3 days of being there. Highly recommended, everything was amazing, even down to the cool set of keys each guest receives for the house. Will definitely re-book in the future.

You were very helpful and we loved the food so fresh and home prepared. Thanks for the explanation about the Samue. Hope to come back one day at your place. Fabienne & Jeans & Sophia & Manon

Kitazawa Cozy House

Setagaya, Tokyo

Kitazawa Cozy House is situated in the Setagaya district of Tokyo, 700 metres from Kitazawa Hachiman Shrine, 700 metres from Shinganji Temple and 1.3 km from Museum of Modern Japanese Literature. Housed in a building dating from 1931, this guest house is 1.8 km from Komaba Museum and 1.9 km from Shosen-ji Temple. Hanegi Park is 1.9 km from the guest house and Ikejiri Inari Shrine is 2.3 km away. Our stay here was exceptional. We were warmly greeted by the host, who speaks fantastic English. The accomodation is the entire 2nd floor and is very roomy. Something about the atmosphere of the house encourages good, sound sleep. "Cozy house" is exactly right. The location is also fantastic... a quick walk to the station, but set in a quiet, relaxing neighbourhood. Highly recommended for families or anyone wanting a traditional, relaxing accomodation option.

Oyado Yaokyu 1st Floor in 4 Story Building - Vacation STAY 6713

Ome

Situated 43 km from Fuchu Park, 43 km from Fuchu Art Museum and 45 km from JRA Racing Museum, Oyado Yaokyu 1st Floor in 4 Story Building - Vacation STAY 6713 features accommodation located in Ome. With free private parking, the property is 35 km from Tamarokuto Science Center and 37 km from Mount Takao. The property is non-smoking and is set 41 km from Sanrio Puroland. This is one of those cases where I feel I lack the words to express how beautiful of an experience this place was by itself. The greenery view from the room window, attentiveness of the hosts, the handmade food they serve, everything was heartwarming.

Mokkoan 2 stars

Kita, Tokyo

Featuring free WiFi and a hot tub, Mokkoan offers accommodation in Kita Ward, Tokyo. Private parking is available on site.

Every room comes with a flat-screen TV with cable channels. Certain units have a seating area where you can relax. For your comfort, you will find slippers and free toiletries. What sets apart a good hotel from a great one are the little details that show that the owners have put tremendous thought into their hotel and really care about giving their guests a wonderful experience, and from the first time I set foot inside Mokkoan, I could already tell that the that this is a great hotel. First off, Ito-san offered to pick us up from the nearest train station (Akabane), which was a great help considering we had our luggage with us. The room they gave us was beautiful, spacious, and outfitted like a traditional Japanese room, opening directly into their immaculately maintained garden. When we arrived, Ito-san (who speaks English, Japanese, and French) took time to explain the different amenities of the hotel and the customs to be observed; he and his wife also welcomed us to have coffee and tea with them after check-in. At night, the hotel is very quiet, and our room had what might be the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, which helped us sleep very soundly after a long day of sight-seeing. Come morning, we were given a delicious breakfast prepared by the Itos and their helper Yuki. The orange jam, made from the fruit of the orange tree in the garden, was delicious. We also got to meet their adorable dog Kei-chan (who, if I'm being honest, was the main reason I booked the place 😅). He was so energetic and playful that he made me feel ready to start my day well. Overall, Mokkoan felt more like a home than a hotel, which I loved. It was a place for me to slow down, take my time, and appreciate the little details that make everyday experiences wonderful. Ito-san and his wife were very kind, thoughtful, and accommodating throughout our stay. My only regret is that I didn't stay longer and take more pictures, but I would love to visit again someday and do just that.

hanare 2 stars

Taito, Tokyo

Offering quiet street views, hanare is set in the Taito district of Tokyo, 400 metres from Asakura Museum of Sculpture and 400 metres from Kyoouji Temple. The 2-star guest house has air-conditioned rooms with a shared bathroom and free WiFi. The accommodation offers luggage storage space and a concierge service for guests. I love the core concept of this 'scattered hotel' that encourages guests to engage with the community. From the welcome walking tour of the neighborhood, to a detailed map and restaurant recommendations, to the tickets to the neighborhood bathhouse, I really felt anchored in a sense of place. Breakfast is in a separate building down the road. For a solo traveler, my tatami mat room and adjacent but private toilet (shared shower) were perfect. Neighborhood is lots of fun to explore, and the 'concierge' was so helpful, and warm, and responsive. Wonderful experience.
