Set within 1.4 km of Zaimokuza Beach and 1.5 km of Yuigahama Beach, jiro de kamakura offers rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Kamakura. This was my favorite homestay in Japan. It felt more like being the guest of a friend in his house. Jiro is an amazing person. He did everything he could to make me feel comfortable and taken care of. We had great conversations. He only takes a few guests at a time so you really get peace, quiet and space. He let me use his bike whenever I needed it. I could cook my meals in the kitchen. The gym in the living room was a big plus. I came here feeling exhausted from other hostels and the city. I was able to get great rest here and feel at peace. I will absolutely be back if I am in the area.

Offering a terrace and river view, Children's cafe B&B Kimie is located in Kamakura, 2.8 km from Yuigahama Beach and less than 1 km from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Everything! It felt like staying with family. Upon arrival Kimie greeted us kindly, she showed us the facilities (very well equipped and clean). During our stay in our room she provided us a hot water bag to make the bed more comfortable. The daily breakfast was also complete, delicious and nutritious. Kimie is a very kind and fun person, she invited us to social activities when the opportunity arose and we had a lot of fun. The house is a bit far from the train station but can easily be reached via bus from the station. It is located near the beautiful bamboo forest and there is also a convenience store nearby. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. We felt at home and Kimie’s hospitality was superb.

We had a great stay at Casa Kamakura, which is located close to the beach. Yuka-San and Suu-San are exceptional hosts. The house is decorated with a lot of love for details and many cool things to see. We will definitely stay here again if we are back to Japan.
