The location was optimal as it is close to three out of 4 of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. The home made breakfast was a delight (bonus if the weather allows you to have it in the lovely garden).
The host is very nice and brings a lot of warmth to the experience (vs hotels).

We loved the fact that we stayed in a temple with no much ammenities! Our room was simple but very nice, the temple was very big and the monks there were so friendly! We enjoyed the morning pray, the dinner and breakfast and the bath! Koyasan is a really calming place, so different from the rest of the places we 've been in Japan!
We want to thank the student monk that helped us the last day!

Amazing place, super friendly owners, delicious food, superb countryside location. Fireworks as a gift after dinner. And don’t miss the old fashioned local store in the village owned by a friendly 83 y/old lady.

Ryochi, who runs the guesthouse, is the best! He gave me detailed information about Koyasan and its surroundings. Kokuu has no curfew, it’s chilled-out, and so close to Okunoin :)
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
Tommy is a great host! The room was very clean, bigger than japsn standards and had everything you need on vacation. Tommy gave us a lot of useful info so that we managed to attened the fire cerimony and the chanting cerimony all for free.
If i ever go back to Koyasan, I'll book this accomodation again.
Great hosts, good location, very clean and comfortable. Lucky to have their restaurant on site for dinner - one of nicest meals we had in Japan - that is, home cooked by Guest House owner, an outstanding chef.
Comfortable room and great hosts. Incredibly helpful to us even after we checked out and returned to collect our left bags soaking wet after getting caught in the rain. Our host provided towels and heating for us to dry out and warm up. The restaurant was great as well. Highly recommend.
Very comfortable and clean accommodation right in the heart of town. Very lovely hosts who have good local tips and serve great breakfast in their cafe.
