We stayed at Antonia's house and we absolutely recommend it. It is closely located to the center, it is clean, nicely decorated and the hosts communicates very clearly. There is a shared space on the ground floor that has a complete kitchen, where you can cook and it has a fridge.
You can leave your car close the the 'viewpoint over the Aegean sea' for free, which is a 10 min walk.
We ate at Galini restaurant, at the end of the street, but the food is basic, and we think there are many other places that are cheaper and have better, authentic food.

This stay was totally 'out of this world', not only for the beautiful views from the balcony of our room, but also for more practical aspects, such as the warm and genuine welcome from Mr Papadakis, the comfort of the room, the excellent Wifi - with plenty of plug sockets! - constant hot water and a shower with powerful water pressure. And as for the breakfast the next morning ... choose the full works to enjoy an astonishing variety of home made jams (including lemon, fig and quince), fresh yogurt and local walnuts! This was served by the delightful Mrs Papadakis in the shade of the garden, and the peace and quiet added greatly to the experience. My husband wanted to do a short 1-2 hour walk in the vicinity having done the Patsos Gorge the day before, and Mr Papadakis was only too happy to offer him a suggestion, with a fully-annotated map (in English!) which was easy to follow, and my husband walked it before breakfast and returned safely and with a camera full of photographs. We were treated royally and could not have wished for more .. or better. Thank you for a stay that will stay in our memories for all the right reasons!

Spotlessly clean, great kitchen with all of the things to cook a nice meal. Good coffee filter machine, also greek pot for making traditional Greek coffee. Very spacious ground floor two bedroom with a big good quality sofa bed in the living/dining room. Smart tv for YouTube and Netflix etc. Amazing swimming pool with lovely spacious surrounding garden. Location is a bit inland. 40 minutes to the airport. The town is small and cute. A few restaurants and 2 small supermarkets. There is a restaurant under the flat and an Anticristo opposite. Good parking.
Beds are very comfortable and the room is spacious with a nice terrace.

Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
We have a really nice week here. The place is exactly as in the photos. Clean, tidy, spacious. Very comfortable beds. Annamaria is a lovely host! They were waiting us with food. The water dispenser is great! The shop is at the end of the street, a 1-minute walk away, and the beach is easily accessible. Perfect for a family!

The apartment was very well equipped and had everything that you needed in it. The lovely kittens next door kept us entertained. The views of the sunset from the balcony were lovely and it was only a 5 minute walk down to a little beach for a morning swim with the locals.
What a great location in a quiet street where the locals all say 'kalimera' as you walk by - so rare these days - yet still in the heart of the beautiful old town, close to a supermarket and parking. Teo was an exceptional host who tracked down our son's lost suitcase when no one else could. Bravo! Having him and our housekeeper cook us a beautiful lasagne ready to heat and eat was the icing on the cake. We travel alot and this experience was EXCEPTIONAL! Grab a slice of traditional Rethymno while you still can.

Stunning beach location with the range of accommodation scattered under shady trees that are screened with bamboo. The taverna is wonderful. A friendly gathering spot for tourists and locals with the backdrop of sand, water, sky. Variety of local dishes are offered on the extensive daily menu. Free use of beach umbrellas and reasonable pricing of beverages adds a relaxed ambience to Camp Elizabeth
The apartments are in a quiet area. It had a useful balcony on which we could take our breakfast. Kitchen and bathroom are very well equipped and you can feel how caring the owners are. It has a very nice swimming pool and laundry too. You can easily reach the south beaches and the western ones by car. The owners are lovely hosts and they really made us feel welcome.
Great place to stay in Rethymno. We felt like locals. Very nice neighbourhood. Amazing and lovely Host with very good recommendation for breakfast and dinner. The roof top with the Jacuzzi which has massage jets is amazing. Would come back for a stay in Rethymno.
