The location is fabulous, right in the cloud forest with so many birds to see directly from the room or when having breakfast or dinner (especially the beautiful hummingbirds). We took a bird watching tour with Esther which was wonderful, she’s extremely knowledgeable and took some great photos that she shared with us. Taxi to town is cheap and easy but you can also have dinner at the lodge which I highly recommend. Breakfast is also very good. Bed is super comfortable and we loved our terrace with hot tub. We also walked up to the terebita ride across the gorge and walked to the waterfalls, was a very rainy day but still an enjoyable morning.

La Chonta is an incredibly special place. It is such a beautiful space immersed in nature. We saw Toucans, parrots and so many other birds from the balcony. It was nice staying a bit out of town in nature. There is so much to do around Mindo, I wish we had more time.
When we arrived, Andres was our host, but leaving as a friend. He joined us on morning walks, showed us great places to eat, and we shared many stories along the way.
Thank you for everything and we cannot wait to come back.
I recommend La Chonta as one of the best places we have stayed anywhere. Don't think, just book.

I got a nice room with a balcony (hammock + small table with a pair of chairs). Big enough and comfortable.

Matteo was a great host, super knowledgable about the area - he’s studying anthropology and even lived for a while with one of the local tribes, which you can do a day trip to learn about! I really learned a lot chatting with him and I recommend you do the same. The location was also great - it’s a little bit outside of the town (8 minute walk) which means the bird life is much better. Sitting out on the terrace we saw so many hummingbirds and even a few tucans!
Good hostel! The family is really nice and the rooms are good. A couple of hammocks and a kitchen with filtered water and a fridge. Few minutes away from the centre but Mindo is small anyway :)
This is a lovely hostel, a little off the main road which had me worried walking there at night alone, but actually mindo is a very safe place and it wasn't very far. Hummingbirds everywhere, beautiful house and a friendly atmosphere.
Eduardo was such a great host, he did everything he could to made us feel welcome and also helped us to get around Mindo and find some fun activities to do while we were there. Breakfast was delicious and provide us with enough energy to do some hiking during the morning.
Great location within 10 Minutes walking distance to the village. The room was very big and the beds super comfy. Paola is a great host and knows a lot what to do in Mindo. You can see a lot of colibris around the house and if you are lucky can spot the Tucans. :-) We would definitly come again.
Great place in the middle of nature but still not too far from the town. Pao and Martin are lovely hosts, very welcoming and helpful with everything we needed.
Spacious room, well equipped kitchen, nice outside areas with hammocks (and colibris!), good breakfast - all in all a great place to stay in Mindo!
