The host, Udara is awesome. He took us to a beautiful local temple and the scene behind the temple is beautiful and peaceful.... good place for meditation.
He organised the safari trip for us. We had a home made packed breakfast on the safari , really good. We also ordered lunch cooked by Udara's mother.....yummy sri lankan food.
Only regret, we only had 1 day at Yala.

RedHill Yala is not a place for everyone. It is a place for someone with an open heart, not just open eyes. It is an utterly authentic place. We stayed as a group of four in a cottage by the rock. The living conditions are very basic, but in this place, it doesn’t matter. There is air conditioning in the rooms, but we chose to use only the fans.
The place is looked after by siblings - Ranjeni and Munidasa. Their kindness and care surprised and touched us every day. When we went for an afternoon walk and it got dark, Munidasa made a few calls to locate us and sent a tuk-tuk to ensure we returned home safely. Every day, our hosts moved us with countless beautiful gestures, asking for nothing in return and gifting us with their warm smiles. We dined at RedHill Yala, and what appeared on our table was real homemade cuisine at its finest, prepared by Ranjeni, along with plenty of fresh fruits. You can also count on fully vegetarian meals if that’s your preference, as the hosts themselves are vegetarians. We also went on a safari organized by the owner – ask for the driver/guide named Eranga! He guarantees an unforgettable experience and the best spots for observing wildlife (highly rated by a photographer). The surrounding area of RedHill is a true paradise – a one-of-a-kind place. The enormous rocks surrounding the property protect it from the ocean and create an extraordinary landscape. On one side, there’s an endless empty beach, and on the other, a beach stretching nearly 2 km that leads to the village center. This is not the end of the world nor a total wilderness, but an evening walk in the area might not be entirely safe due to wild animals visiting this region. In the area, you’ll find a few local bars, one restaurant, and a paid swimming pool. The village itself seems forgotten by modern civilization, still bearing many marks of the 2004 tsunami that hit this region. However, RedHill gives you experience worth everything – on one condition – your open heart!

Great for families or large parties, holiday homes are privately owned accommodation, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities for self-catering, although breakfast may be offered as an add-on. These properties have their own independent front door, which makes them different to apartments.
Lovely friendly staff on arrival who explained about the property and facilities. The accommodation was excellent, very clean with everything needed for a night’s stay. The two fans in the tent were much needed due to it being very hot and humid
Booked the evening meal and early morning safari the next day. The food was delicious and eating outside was a lovely experience, especially gazing up to see all the many stars. All staff very attentive and a good choice of food and drink.
Amazing location and hotel md great spot for safaris while having Nice pool area for relaxing when at hotel. Rooms very clean and Nice and service from staff very good
Friendly and helpful staff, nice property and convenient for safaris at a good price. Very clean and comfortable and loved the pool too. Ideal base for safaris and local trips
Amazing property. Great for visiting with young kids. Very clean and the staff were very attentive. Frequent power outage in the room but easily forgotten as everything else was great. Our ranger was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our safari and walks with him.
Absolutely incredible experience - a shame that I could only stay for one night because the daily safari was wonderful with an incredibly knowledgable guide. Each of the meals were delicious. I was lucky to experience the BBQ dinner night. The private pool was wonderful. The room itself included everything one could ask for and the decor was sensational.
So amazing, the owner was exceptionally kind he helped us organise everything, communicated really well. he booked us the best safari for a good price (we saw 2 leopards!!) we got very lucky. He let us arrive late and helped us organise transport. Very kind man. Definitely stay here, it is very clean and the aircon works very well. We would really recommend. Also a reasonable price for this area!
We had an incredible stay here. The room was enormous and very clean. We stayed in the suite with the private pool and it was fantastic. Ishan made our stay so easy and sorted out anything we needed. The food was some of the best of the trip as well.
We cannot recommend staying here enough and if we ever get to come back to Sri Lanka we will definitely be staying here again.
After seeing so many excellent reviews I booked this and was not disappointed. Great welcome with cold towels and fresh mango juice! Ananda and his lovely staff treated like royalty! Jeff’s cooking is the best we have had so far in Sri Lanka! Very clean and perfect stay.
Ananda runs a very smooth hotel, he was the best manager.
