Café&GuestHouse kaziya, a property with a garden and a shared lounge, is set in Ichinoseki, 18 km from Chuson-ji Temple, 15 km from Ichinoseki Station, as well as 22 km from Takkoku Seikou-ji Temple. Great guesthouse with a spacious Japanese-style bedroom. Everything was spotless, and they have a time-slot system for the shared bathroom so that it's easy to use. The breakfast was also delicious. We only stayed one day, I wished we had stayed at least one more. The staff was very kind and agreed to store our luggage on check-out day so that we could go to Geibikei gorge hassle-free. Geibikei is an easy 15-minute stroll from the guest house.

Situated 16 km from Chuson-ji Temple, Matakitai offers 1-star accommodation in Ichinoseki and has a garden. I was the only guest for the night. Great common area for multiple people. There is a full kitchen for use and while it is a bit out of the way it was one of the best places i stayed on my trip.

Located 34 km from Chuson-ji Temple, ゲストハウス蘖 -ひこばえ provides accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The holiday flat is quite close to the Sakura spot of Tenshochi Park and the Michinoku folk museum. The flat is located at the riverside with a lovely view and is decorated prettily. The owner is nice. She showed us some beautiful places when we arrived and drove us to the station when we had to leave.

Only a 5-minute drive from Appi Kogen Ski Resort, Appikogen Pension Mutti offers accommodations with free Wi-Fi. Guests can relax in the 24-hour operated shared open-air bath. If the highest score is 10 I would rank Pension Mutti 9.9 — as no one would be 100% perfect :) I checked in at Pension Mutti a week ago and stayed for 3 nights, I would say Kayoko, the hostess and her entire family, were one of the most kind families I have ever met before. I didn’t book dinner when I made the reservation from Beijing, because I was thinking maybe I could try different restaurants but I was totally wrong, as the Appi Kogen skiing area is more of countryside without restaurants or shops in city area. But Kayoko figured out to get me the dinner arrangement eventually which I appreciated soooo much. And when I saw and tasted the breakfast and dinner provided, I was shocked as at this price, in Beijing, it won’t be cheaper than 30usd per meal - in New York it would cost +80usd or higher. The taste and the presentation of the meals were just at fine dining level no mention the ingredient were all from local and fresh. Kayoko also drove me ( and other travelers) to the ski resort ever morning and picked us up in the afternoon, and drove me to the train station in early morning. I can’t say anything unsatisfied me esp at the price charged to me, and I appreciated her and her family very much. I definitely have recommended Pension Mutti to my friends and I expect to visit the cozy place again.

Located just 2.5 km from Morioka Station, Buchoho No Yado Morioka features accommodation in Morioka with access to free bikes, a shared lounge, as well as a shared kitchen. Just 10 minutes to Sakurayama shrine. It's a bit far away from Morioka station but there are a lot of interesting places for sightseeing around there.

Located 16 km from Appi Kogen Ski Resort, Pension Entre - deux - Mers offers 2-star accommodation in Hachimantai and features a garden. Super clean and well appointed pension. Really friendly and helpful hosts with delicious breakfast served each morning. Thank you so much for a lovely stay at your beautiful home.

タカマス民宿 is located in Ōtsuchi, 10 km from Kamaishi Recovery Memorial Stadium, 18 km from Kamaishi Station, and 41 km from Iwate Prefectural Fishery Science Museum. I stayed longer than I intended. The little town radiates peacefullness. And so does this guesthouse. I felt so comfortable and respected here. I was so perfectly treated I just wanted to stay longer. I actually did. And I want to go back. Live at the end of the world again, feel that small measure of peace again.

Located in Shizukuishi, 30 km from Morioka Station and 14 km from Koiwai Farm, Pension Sanrinsha provides accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden and a terrace. A pension close (very close) to the ski slope. Excellent host, who drove me to the slope very day. Even tho you could walk it. Basic, but everything needed for a few days of skiing. An ofuro meant an achey body was ready for the next day.
