Karrawa Guest House is set in the town of Kirkwall, less than 1 mile from the town centre and within 2.5 miles of the airport and ferry terminal. This family-run property offers pleasant rooms with free Wi-Fi. Fiona and Colin were brilliant hosts. The breakfasts are fresh and cooked to order, along with a wide selection of cereals and juices. Our room was spotless and roomy, with a big closet for hanging up rain-dampened clothes. It’s a 20-minute walk to the centre of Kirkwall, or a 6£ cab ride if you’re coming back from the pubs. There is ample parking on the property.

You can play darts and tennis at this 3-star inn, and the area is popular for hiking and diving. I loved the hotel, my room, the location, and the manager, Suzanne, and her staff. The hotel was minutes away from the ferry to Gills Bay and yet so quiet and peaceful at night. I was sad to leave.
