Our hosts Emma and Graeme made us feel very welcome. The breakfast is a feast in itself! Three courses of locally sourced products cooked to perfection. There’s even the option for a tot of single malt on your porridge! The place is spotlessly clean and extremely well decorated, residents have the full run of the downstairs where they can relax in the comfy sofas and enjoy a G&T from the amazing selection of Scottish gins.
They also provide evening meals and will happily cater for any special dietary requirements provided you let them know in advance. If you choose to eat out, there are good restaurants in Bowmore, the cleverly named Peatzeria and, in Port Ellen, the Sea Salt Bistro and the Islay Hotel.
A visit to one or more of the distilleries on Islay is a must as is a trip to Jura and the wonderful Lussa gin distillery at the far end of the island.
Would we stay there again. Absolutely…

This beachfront property offers access to free WiFi and free private parking. The guest house has family rooms. Location was fabulous! The included breakfast was well-stocked and had fresh coffee. There’s a spot for guests to refrigerate food. We got takeaway a few times for meals. We could eat our takeaway in the dining area, which was nice. For a small fee they took care of our laundry. This was really nice after traveling for a few days. We had a later flight on our checkout day. They let us store our luggage in the room until later.

It is right by the ferry, and there is a great walking path to the distilleries. There are great restaurants very nearby There were plenty of options for breakfast, and the fresh fruit was the bonus. Everything was exceptional clean Our host was friendly and very helpful
Breakfast was special and room was very comfortable with excellent great hosts.
The location is very quiet, in the middle of a beautiful landscape. Great for a nice morning walk. Still, within a short drive you can find restaurants, distilleries etc. Thomas is a very friendly and welcoming host. Rooms are great, spacious, newly renovated. Breakfast ist awesome! Try the scrambled eggs any version. Very nice garden to sit with a beer or for kids to play. Will come again any time we’ll have the chance. My whole family was very happy here.
They say that the people make a place nice ... well it is true. Thank you Lorna you were great host for us. Thank you all for all the support and hospitality if it weren't you our visit of Islay would probably not be possible.
Our host was extremely knowledgeable and was on top of the ferry schedule changes. The shower was excellent and the room very comfortable. Great location in Port Ellen.
very reasonable price, great location and great host
Exceptional! A cozy, no-frills guest house within walking distance of three world class distilleries. Our host Niall was simply amazing. He and his family are incredibly welcoming and you almost feel like you are part of the family. They will “get you sorted” with using the local buses, where to grab a bite, who to call for a taxi and whatever else you might be wondering about. Exceptional hosts. The distilleries were great but these fine people will be what we remember most fondly about our stay on Islay.
To start the location is off the beaten track which makes it exceptionally quiet, The host Thomas was first class absolutely nothing was to much trouble, I suppose the stay is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I think if you stay once you will want to go back. the Breakfast is as good if not better than a five star hotel, wonderful.
We had a great stay at the Trout Fly Guest House when we visited Islay. The rooms are clean, breakfast was excellent, and the hosts are so helpful and kind. It was a great location to start the Three Distilleries walk from and visit Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Ardbeg.
