The accommodation is 200 m away from the beach and numerous restaurants and beach bars. Trevor was an amazing host and took his time to show me around Zanzibar and teach me some of the local lingo. I really enjoyed my stay at Gecko house.

Beautiful detail and authentic feel to the property. Good quality food cooked in an open view kitchen. Excellent and friendly local staff throughout. Simon in particular had absolutely delightful energy and presence about him. Manager Peter was always around and on hand to help with anything. Lovely stay in a beautiful location just off Jambiani Beach.

Lovely, cosy, quiet hotel that looks exactly the same in reality as in the pictures. Tastefully furnished and decorated in typical local style. Outdoor areas to relax in with friendly, helpful and unpretentious staff. Breakfast was fresh and good (although it would be nice if one or two more things could be added as it gets a bit boring after a week of eating pretty much the same thing, even if it tastes good). If you ask, the staff will organise tours and activities for you. As I have a walking disability, I was helped immediately or picked up when I had difficulties with where to go. Living in another African country where life is not safe at all and everyone hides behind high walls and security measures, I really enjoyed the feeling of peace and security in the hotel and on the island. I would definitely come back.
This traditional Zanzibar-style house is located in the Jambiani village, on a private, palm-lined beach. It offers a terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean and a communal living/dining area.
Boasting garden views, Stay House offers accommodation with a terrace and a balcony, around 400 metres from Jambiani Beach. With city views, this accommodation provides a patio.

Helwas is an absolute paradise. The entire ambience of the accommodation is beautifully laid out in the interplay between wonderful plants and white sand, with the Indian Ocean right in front of the door.
The rooms are spacious, very clean and lovingly decorated. The use of natural materials (throughout the entire area) is particularly impressive. The food is excellent and the cozy atmosphere - especially at evenings with some local live music - clearly stands out from the very touristy centers.
The owners are very welcoming and helpful! All organizational questions (excursions, etc.) were clarified immediately. The personal exchange and interaction with one another exudes a particularly friendly atmosphere. As also the entire staff does who are very warm and accommodating.
We felt comfortable being there the whole time! I can definitely recommend this place!
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Great attention to every details, harmonious and peaceful, really clean, delicious food, would have given 11/10 is possible - perfect for romantic quiet boutique experience
Cleanliness, location right on beach, staff, food, pools, basins to rinse sand off of feet before entering room/pool, spacious and quiet rooms, very chic and charming hotel, airport pick up....I can go on! Overall, a fantastic hotel and location. I would definitely stay here again.
We liked the warm welcome from the hosts and staff. The property is not on the beach but access is easy by walking through the village. The property restaurant is managed by an Italian chef, the food is excellent. It’s next level to what we find in the area. We had diner for the four nights of our stay!. Jambiani is a nice quiet beach.
Great location directly at the beach. Nice beach, nice swimming pool. Good restaurant in the hotel and great cheap african restaurants very close behind the hotel. Very clean eberything, and friendly stuff, especially Lina. We liked the endless beach with a lot of great beach bars and restaurants nearby. The room is clean and the sunrise and ocean view is superb.
We booked for 3 nights and ended up staying over 2 weeks!
We got lucky to be there at the time the hostel guests formed a really nice group, but when when quieter this place felt like an oasis of peace, relaxation and perfect holidays. The swimming pool is a blessing at any time of the day or night, the breakfast was so delicious, the staff was very kind. The location, hidden from the busy and touristy Paje, was perfect as it felt like coming back home to a comfy place. Very cheap accommodation. Definitely the best hostel in Zanzibar for me!
Great location. Very nice hosts. The room is clean but poorly equipped. Breakfast ok but juices tasteless and too diluted with water. Evening barbecue with seafood and fish sensational. Peace and quiet and very safe.
Amazing little hotel 1 minute to Jambiani beach. Rooms are comfortable and clean.
Great location next to superb local restaurants
On the quieter side of the beach but only a 5-10 minute to cover everything you'd need.
Excellent staff - Carlos is an amazing host!
Laundry services super cheap.
Breakfast was nice with different amazing fruits, pancakes and fresh juice. We enjoyed it every morning.
great quiet boutique hotel with very nice staff and great location. The tide on the beach was no problems at all as we enjoyed a walk to the blue water in about 20min at low tide, and could swim easily when high. Prices were very good and the hotel offers great value for money, charm and a nice homey atmosphere that we loved. we had an incredible stay, were able to fully relax and recharge and were pleased by the full team - in particular Happy always doing her best to make our stay magical! Recommend 100%.
What an amazing experience staying at Aurora. Every detail from the accommodation, thru the breakfast, organizing tours, long chats with the Staff, the food, the quietness, tranquility and the great evenings eating at the restaurant was…AMAZING. Melissa and Simon took good care of me, as I was traveling alone. Great hosts and long / good conversations with had. Was sad to leave. Very highly recommended!!!
It‘s a wonderful place to relax and enjoy Zanzibar. The owners Denisa & Valentin are such great hosts, the staff is super friendly, the food amazing (they have also vegetarian options), the rooms beautiful, the bed big and comfy. This boutique hotel is a real paradise where you don‘t want to leave.
