Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
I recently stayed at this charming 3-room boutique hotel and had a delightful experience. The manager was exceptionally pleasant, friendly, and helpful, consistently checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. Although the other staff had limited English fluency, they were nice and attentive.
Excellent and beyond friendly service. Meals were great and all activities offered by the camp were the best we have experienced in Sri Lanka! We would truly recommend Yakaduru to our friends. Nishantha was a great host to us. When we arrived a traditional lunch was served to us along with a surprise dinner on a scenic rock near our room.
If you are looking for a place full of peace and quiet, this little paradise is just the thing. Hansa and his wife are lovely and helpful hosts who take very good care of you, making you feel at home. The food was really delicious and the beach was relaxing and so empty that you had it to yourself. The rooms are simple but have everything you need. We also booked a safari through him which went very well. We would have loved to stay longer as it was the best two days of our trip.

Great location close to the National Park.
Staff extremely helpful and friendly.
Ease of check in and check out.
Assistance with transport from the hotel.
Quiet hotel with a homely feel.
Boutique safari style hotel, reminiscent of an expensive African lodge. Quiet location on the edge of rice paddies with only 8 guest rooms. Fantastic pool and bar area. Large rooms and bed. Nothing too much trouble for the staff, they were all very eager to please.
A stunning property with only a few guests.
Amazing stay at this unique place. Astonishing View. The food was extraordinary. A little expensive, but incredible Barbecue.
We were so happy to finally find a place in Sri Lanka with complete quietness. And this is definitely it!
The highlight was the amazing hosts and friends.
Thank you for having us, we would recommend!
Fantastic location, close to long stretch of empty beach. The host Hansa is super friendly and makes amazing Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner. The room was simple, but perfectly comfortable, with quiet and effective air con. Access is down a very bumpy unmade road, but iur driver had contacted the hotel in advance and arranged to meet Hansa on the main road and he picked us up. The safari organised by the hotel was very good.
It looks much better than the pictures, the villa is spacious. But the best part is the hosts, they were super nice, we received welcome drink, wonderful breakfast. The owner has a garden with fresh fruits, he did a little tour and tasting, it was wonderful.
