We had a great stay at toranjyo lit, a traditional ryokan house. It is simple but has everything you need and it’s very charming. The staff was also very friendly and helpful, giving us tips how to structure our nioshima/teshima trip and picking us up from the bus stop.

So comfortable and informal stay, like being at a friend's house. Staff very friendly and interact with guests. Before the trip gave us pointers on what to expect. Location is great, right across of the ferry to Naoshima, around the corner from the train station, and many places to eat within walking distance.

Sparky’s House, hotel in Tamano

Providing quiet street views, Sparky’s House in Naoshima offers accommodations, a garden, a terrace, and a shared lounge.

The room was small but felt cozy with the heat on. The bathroom was small but but not tiny. There is a communal kitchen with free hot drinks including soups, and dishes and a microwave for anyone. I belive there was a laundry room. The staff didn't speak much English but were very lovely and helpful. The location was an 8 minute walk to the ferries, and 5 minutes to the bus stop. The room was a perfect haven in the evenings as there is nothing to do at night in town.

The room is huge! Also it was very clean, and had a fridge, kettle, and microwave. There is free laundry in the shared hallway, which was super helpful. The bathroom was on the larger side, compared to others I’ve used in hotels.

Very convenient if you are traveling from/to Naoshima. Cheaper than the options in the island and the 20-minute ferry to get there is only 300 yen. The port is walking distance from the hostel. Very clean, towel provided, comfortable, excellent staff.

Great! A bit rustic, which contrasts with some hostels in bigger cities but so welcoming and charming.

Very charming and beautiful guest house, but we were especially very happy with our host Yuki. She picked up our HEAVY luggage from the station so we could go to the art islands immediately after arriving in Tamano and she gave some really helpful advice for our itenary. Some earplugs (provided in the room) are helpful as there are paper walls seperating the rooms, but for us that was part of the charm. Breakfast was also nice. Would definately recommend this place!

Very charming traditional house! I stayed 2 nights in the female dorm which was so cozy, quiet and confortable. The corridors reminded me of the ones in Spirited Away film! The staff was so friendly! Lot of space, very clean, this is a peaceful place where I could have stayed longer ! I warmly recommend this place !

Nice warm sitting room to use. Yuki was a great host and made a very good breakfast. Brisk 15 minute walk to the station in the morning. Yuki also made a restaurant reservation for us and drove us to it. Downstairs rooms are divided by traditional Japanese paper walls.
