Hunkubakkar Guesthouse, hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur

Situated by Road 206, this family-run guest house is 8 km from Kirkjubæjarklaustur village. It offers brightly decorated guest rooms and free WiFi in public areas. Laki Golf Club is 11 km away.

Gorgeous spot close to the Fjadrarglijufur canyon - we were able to walk there from the hotel, had a lovely hike into the hills behind the canyon, and enjoyed a fabulous display of the northern lights on the second evening. Comfortable and warm cabin, felt very private. Lovely breakfast in the restaurant on site. We ate out in Kirkjubaejarklauster both evenings (as the Icelandic bistro menu at the Hunkubakkar didn't suit our needs) - this is a 6km drive but very east to navigate. Would recommend Sytstrakaffi for a broad menu to suit all tastes and a prompt service.

Landbrot Guesthouse, hotel in Kirkjubæjarklaustur

A Perfect Icelandic Escape at Landbrot Guesthouse One of our favorite parts was watching the Northern Lights right from our bed. No need to chase them—we enjoyed nature’s spectacular show while sipping a glass of sparkling wine, which was simply unforgettable. Our stay at Landbrot Guesthouse was perfect! The room was spotless and cozy, with thoughtful details that made it feel like home. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we slept soundly in the quiet surroundings. Although we only made coffee, the kitchen was very well-equipped. The hosts were welcoming and always ready with helpful tips about nearby sights and hidden gems.

Hvoll is a large basic hostel. It was clean, warm and well equipped. Far enough away from the road to be quiet but easy to find. We'd happily stay again

Everything! It was magical to stay in these little house/chalet. With my partner, we didn't book properly for what we wanted, but the host re-accommodated us in no time and we are super thankful for it as it was an unbelievable night and place to see northern lights. Definitely a cute romantic getaway as well. Everything was really modern in the little house we've had and it is fully equipped to cook and such. Quiet place and really comfortable.

The location was exactly what we wanted. It was quiet, private, and the first night we stepped out the front door and watched the Northern Lights which was awesome! It also put us half way between 2 locations we wanted to see so everything was perfect. We were a 3 generation family of 5 guests and it felt like a second home. The owners were warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I strongly recommend Eaglerock Guesthouse.

Clean and comfortable. Lots of separate huts with 3-4 rooms in means its a quite location. Good breakfast included with booking. Restaurant on site for dinner but also options close by in the town Friendly staff, helpful when needed. Simple kettle in each hut with tea and coffee. Clean bathrooms with powerful hot showers. Rooms were nice and warm. Lovely waterfall right behind guesthouse with some nice walks. Also great location to explore south coast

the hostel is located in a magnificent place with a small lake in front of the facility, it is secluded and quiet. The common area is very large and cozy, as are the kitchens, which are also well stocked with dishes and accessories.

The hostel was wonderful. It was even better than expected. The price was amazing as was the location. It is built "in the middle of nowhere" which gives you privacy, peace and quiet. The room was clean and comfortable, the common areas (kitchen and bathrooms) tidy and well maintained. The communication and organisation is also worth mentioning - it is a self check-in hostel (you receive an email with instructions a few days before your stay), which provides flexibility and peace of mind (no rush within the check-in times).

Lovely, quiet cabin. Great location just off the ring road. The nearby gorge is superb. And make sure you eat here at least once and have the truly fabulous lamb
