Fernwood, hotel in Clifden

5 km from Alcock & Brown Memorial in Clifden, Fernwood offers accommodation with access to a sauna. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the farm stay free of charge.

The location and the property, we stayed in the Dome, was excellent. It is such a unique and cosy place to stay. It is well equipped, amazingly furnished and the wood fired oven is a really nice add on. The bed was super comfortable and the view when we woke up was unreal. It is also great to wander around the area, walk the rope bridge, visit the lake or enjoy the sauna and plunge pool. We will be back! 20 out of 10!

Martin, the local farmer who gives tours, was fantastic. Welcoming, funny and packed with plenty of history you ought to learn in a historic place such as this. Breakfasts were great too

Rustic farmhouse setting with charm and a down-home feeling. Michael was the consummate host. Very personable and warm. Also cooks up a great breakfast. You’re 5 minutes from the town of Clifden with lots of dining options and shops. We enjoyed Guy’s Pub. If we find ourselves this way again, we’ll return. We loved the host’s Border Collies, Lily and Rosie!

The farmhouse was a unique stay - there is a museum of sorts on the first floor that details an interesting history of the area as well as a theater where you learn about the life of Dan O'Hara. You can walk the property and see the old O'Hara house. Lots of roaming friendly animals on the property. Breakfast served each morning was delicious. The property is also connected to the city via greenway/sidewalk so it is possible to walk into town which we found to be a big bonus when we did not want to drive.

Location was excellent. A manageable walk to town centre but far enough out to create a rural escape. The view from the property was fantastic with sea inlet views and mountains in background. A great location to use as a base for touring Connemara. Property itself was practical and overall very comfortable.

Perfect spot when touring Connemara in Ireland. Also, take your time and see what Dan O'Hara Farmhouse has to offer - for example, the old farmhouse and the short video.
