Breakfast is served directly on the terrace and it was one of the best of our entire trip. Everything is freshly prepared and you can order either a Sri Lankan or an English breakfast. This country house is 87.5 km from Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport. The Ella Waterfalls is 8 km, the Ella Rock is 15 km and the Ella Railway Station is 2.2 km. I spend 2 nights here in November 2023. The location is just perfect if you wanna do hikes around, you get a beautiful view on Ella rock and Little Adam's peak and it is a perfect starting point for these trips. The place is very quiet, about 10mins walk from the main village road where all the restaurants are situated and you can walk on train tracks which makes it even faster. It is owned by beautiful, welcoming and such a kind Sri Lankan family and I would come back any time, it was very nice local experience for very decent price. The breakfast is huge and tasty, they can even pack you some snack for your trip. Hot water and WiFi is there too and with no problem, rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. They can also arrange tuktuk for fair price. Nothing negative really. Thank you for such a warm welcome!

Located in Ohiya, surrounded by mountains in the Horton Plains Range, Hill Safari - Tea Estate Villa mainly serves Sri Lankan cuisine. It features a shared lounge area surrounded by tea estates/mountains. The property boasts an excellent location for hiking and trekking. We had a wonderful two-day stay at Hill Safari in Ohiya. The view from the balcony was incredible, and I could have spent all day there. However, many hiking trails start from the hotel, like the Devil's Staircase, which shouldn't be missed. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with planning our treks. The food at the restaurant was very good, but you need to inform them in advance if you plan to dine in. Nights are quite chilly for Sri Lanka, and while there’s no heating, the blanket provided was sufficient. It's wise to bring something warm. The hotel is very close to Horton Plains, making it a great base for the park, though I personally preferred all the trails near the hotel.
