It really surprised me and makes me feel like I’m home. The couple was very kind and offered to drive me to the station, which really helped me a lot. There is also a fireplace in the living room in the evenings, and sitting in the shared room and talking together was one of the happiest times I had in Hokkaido. Thank you for being so nice to me. I wish I could have stayed a few more nights.☺️

Featuring a shared lounge and views of mountain, 農家民泊せたな牛ハウス is a recently renovated country house located in Setana, 31 km from National Historic Site Pirika. The hosts were simply wonderful. Even though I didn't speak Japanese well, they helped me out the whole time by speaking simply and listening patiently. I learned so much about cows and dairy farming and life in Japan's countryside. I enjoyed touring the farm, bringing the hay bales back from the pasture, the illustrated storybook and presentation, Yoshio-san's jokes, seeing the stars at night, the delicious milk and yogurt and hokke, having a bath in a Japanese home for the first time, etc. It was a really delightful stay for someone like me who's grown up and lived his whole life in the city.

So quiet at night I heard leaves moving in the trees. The couple that owns the property are endlessly charming and kind. Oh, and the meals…wow!! Dinner and breakfast. Multiple courses, each better than the last. Such a wonderful stay!!

We were very lucky to secure such a great place for our trip! The only downside from our experience was that we only booked for one night. I wish we could have stayed longer. The ambiance of the place was simply astonishing. At night the stars are visible. In the morning, you have a perfect view of the mountains. The facilities inside are clean and modern, despite the traditional look of the house. Yuki-san and Honda-san were extremely kind and accommodating. They made us feel right at home. Our check-out time was a bit earlier than the earliest train, so they let us hang out with their dogs and horses in the farm. They even volunteered to pick us up and drop us off at the station! The place was definitely a pleasant surprise and a hidden gem.
