Really beautiful location in Biei and central located among the key sights i Biei and the surrounding area. The pension is very clean and well-kept and the hosts were so nice, friendly and helpful. The breakfast is also really good. All of this made our stay an unforgettable experience and we can highly recommend Pension Ken & Mary.

Surrounded by mountains and fields of grass, guests at Farm Inn Anima no Sato stay in simple accommodations. Guests can experience living at a farm and make handmade crafts. The hosts were by far the nicest people I had met in Japan for half a year of my stay here. The plum sake, the warm futon bed futon and the long conversation by the wood-stove were amazing and warmed up both my body and my soul after a long day of winter sightseeing. The oto-san kindly saw me off to the station when the buses had stopped and the oka-san explained me one of their family sake recipes. Will absolutely come here again in summer.

Even though I didn't speak Japanese well, they helped me out the whole time by speaking simply and listening patiently. I learned so much about cows and dairy farming and life in Japan's countryside. I enjoyed touring the farm, bringing the hay bales back from the pasture, the illustrated storybook and presentation, Yoshio-san's jokes, seeing the stars at night, the delicious milk and yogurt and hokke, having a bath in a Japanese home for the first time, etc. It was a really delightful stay for someone like me who's grown up and lived his whole life in the city.

I don’t think I’ve ever given 10 on booking, and I still don’t think that’s a high enough score. You have an old school camper in the middle of a garden tucked in a vast corn field. So quiet at night I heard leaves moving in the trees. The couple that owns the property are endlessly charming and kind. Oh, and the meals…wow!! Dinner and breakfast. Multiple courses, each better than the last. Such a wonderful stay!!

Offering a garden and mountain view, Tarochan House is set in Engaru, 39 km from Kamikawa Park and 40 km from Taisetsu Observatory. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. We were very lucky to secure such a great place for our trip! The only downside from our experience was that we only booked for one night. I wish we could have stayed longer. The ambiance of the place was simply astonishing. At night the stars are visible. In the morning, you have a perfect view of the mountains. The facilities inside are clean and modern, despite the traditional look of the house. Yuki-san and Honda-san were extremely kind and accommodating. They made us feel right at home. Our check-out time was a bit earlier than the earliest train, so they let us hang out with their dogs and horses in the farm. They even volunteered to pick us up and drop us off at the station! The place was definitely a pleasant surprise and a hidden gem.
