Ravenstone Manor, hotel in Keswick

A 5-minute drive from Bassenthwaite Lake, Ravenstone Manor is an 19th-century manor house set in 3 hectares of ground. The property is at the foot of Skiddaw, overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake.

It was totally dog-friendly. Dogs were welcome in the dining room and all social rooms in the hotel. There probably were more dogs in residence than paying guests! The facilities are grand -- very British -- with large, comfortable social rooms, even a nook for jig-saw puzzle enthusiasts. In-house restaurant was very good and the staff were wonderful (except our greeter).

Set in 2 acres of tranquil wooded gardens. The charming rooms have TVs and tea and coffee facilities, and many have breathtaking views of the valley and fells.

Location is absolutely gorgeous, the view from the dining room really gave things a luxury feel at breakfast. Nicely decorated too. I felt breakfast was pretty good, the food was fine with a nice selection. The breakfast service was very attentive, staff were friendly and very classy. Lots of natural light in the room and a very comfy bed.

A smashing little town with smashing views of the Fells and Lake. Launches to see Derwent water. Plenty of fells to walk up (If you are not fit do not attempt the higher ones). Lots of places to eat and drink.

A nice little town that catered for all ages especially liked the puzzle museum, one downside was the price of the toilets which at 50p is expensive. The meals at Brasserie 31 while expensive was very good as was the meal we had at the Golden Lion

There are wonderful hikes of all different lengths -- one hour to 8 hours -- and you get extraordinary views from all of them. And there always seems to be a nearby pub at the end of the hike! Truly great hiking and friendly people. We had a great dinner at the Fellpack restaurant too.

The breakfast was great. It was buffet style, including the cooked options, with plenty of choices. This is far better than similar hotels we have stayed in which give you a 'cooked breakfast selection' form, and will then bring you a single sausage, one slice of bacon, etc. There was also plenty of pastries, fruit and fresh juices. The staff were extremely polite and very helpful throughout our stay. The location is also good, being a short walk from both the town centre and the lake.

The staff were brilliant and the food was absolutely first class. As this small and friendly hotel is located a short drive away from the tourist town of Keswick, we felt they probably have to work harder for their custom - Location, Location, Location! The standard of the hotel, the service, the breakfast, the evening meals and overall value far surpassed anything you'd get in the town centre for the price.

It was a wonderful 5 days stay ! Everything was spotless clean and nice. Breakfast was very good and filling. Sue and Mick were amazing hosts. I felt like I was staying with old friends not in a guest house. From start to finish they took good care of me. Lovely people and If life takes me back to Keswick I for sure would stay in Eden Green again. Highly recommend!

It is an easy and pleasant walk into the town centre. Much of the hotel has been refurbished in part in a Victorian theme. The bar and lounge are very spacious and look out over the hotel grounds. Some of the staff were very helpful. Quiet location for a good night's sleep.
