Super family friendly they had the outdoor climbing net and a tone of toys and books that made the home super welcoming.
The beds were so soft I thought I was sleeping on a cloud.
Super close to Nagano forest village: treetop adventure park and lake
Well supplied kitchen that made cooking super easy

Classic charming pension with the most friendly owners! The private onsen across the street is incredible, I had it to myself every night, and there is an option for breakfast. The room was perfect for two of us, and Papa was so kind to drive us to and from the Myokokogen station and the mountains, and also on some errands which was so kind. It feels like you are stepping into a place that can’t be created, a piece of personality.

Preface: Have stayed at several guest houses and places with shared common areas throughout Japan.
- The lovely couple who was running the place. The wife was was very helpful, pleasant, and sweet
- The husband was very good about regular snow removal in the mornings which was necessary
- Tons of parking
- There is a private onsen/shower room in the place. We only used the women's but it was very clean.
- Location was super close to a lot of ski resorts, though not walking distance to town. Note: HIGHLY RECOMMEND 4WD if coming during winter. We had 2WD w/ winter tires and almost didn't make it back a couple times, despite being fine with this set up on previous winter trips to Myoko.
- Heard great things about the breakfast but did not try it due to time in the morning.

The room was great, spacious, and the bed was really comfortable. The heater was super efficient and it was nicely warm.
The hosts were lovely.
For active travelers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and with kitchen facilities, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found other places in the world. Characterized by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing vacations.
Hotel is around 15-20 min walk from Nagano Station... there is, we found out after we arrived(!), a free shuttle bus!
The accommodation was good - big room, comfortable beds etc. Nothing actually wrong but just felt a bit dated and in need of a bit of TLC!!
It's very much a business hotel rather than a tourist one I would say - lots of conferences/meetings etc happening whilst we were there.
Value for money was excellent and I would recommend if you are in town for a couple of days.
AMAZING breakfast and welcome drink bar during the day and each night. Very convenient shuttle to the station and supermarkets right next door.
Also beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Would definitely stay again!
Staff were pleasant.
So so rooms. Not a terrible location as it's not a vast town, but quite a distance from the station and their own shuttle bus doesn't run until 9.30, the local buses don't start until 10.
Nice view of the mountains.
Our family room was quite large for Japanese standards, very clean and extremely comfortable. The room was cleaned daily, all the toiletries were provided as well as the complimentary bottles of water (one per person) which was much appreciated. The staff at the reception desk were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely choice of breakfast options. There was even a free shuttle (minibus) service to the underground station (otherwise 15-20 min walk).
The room we had was amazing - huge with fantastic
180 degree views of the city and mountains. It was actually a suite! Some nice touches such as bathrobe and plenty of towels. Good breakfast and very helpful staff. It’s relatively close to the Zenkoji Temple and shops and great option to get the free shuttle bus there and to the station if you are not up for the 20min or so walk.
Comfy beds and a good view of the local hills. We were staying overnight before heading to Hakuba. The hotel has a shuttle bus which will pick you up from the station. Good messaging via booking.com. kokusai 21 hosted the IOC during the Nagano Olympics.
The concierge at the front desk went out of her way to assist us in planning the following day's trip which we greatly appreciated.
Shuttle service to and from the station was a big help too.
