We stayed 2 nights at Starwatching Private Camp and had an incredible time. The camp is nestled about a 45 minute drive into the desert in a remote setting. The opportunity to switch off from the world was a welcomed opportunity! The food was excellent, the facilities for the restroom were far above what I expected for being in the desert, and the tent is very spacious and comfortable. We spent our first night alone at camp and walked up the dunes to watch sunset before having dinner and then sitting out by the firepit enjoying the calmness of our surroundings. The second day another couple had rented the tent and it was nice to have the company! We had another excellent dinner together and then we separated from the couple to go up onto the star gazing platform to layout and watch the stars. To top it all off, the team who looked after us provided the best care. Usman and Imran looked after us ensuring we had everything we needed at camp and the gem that is Ali guided us in to camp, to our hotel air balloon we had booked and back again, waking up very early to ensure we didn't miss our activities and provided much insight into the lives of those living within the desert and in Oman. Ali was so welcoming and friendly, he made the whole experience even more enjoyable! Our experience was 5 stars, it is a wonderful treasure in the middle of the desert and I cannot wait for the opportunity to go back.

Location is truly magical, it feels like you stepped on the set of Dune. The red sand, the feeling of being in the desert, even the drive there is exhilarating. Being so small it feels private and does not have the "resort" feel of other larger locations, which in my book is a good thing. Tent is comfortable, there is an attached bathroom with a shower and a balcony, what more could one want in the desert? Staff is very friendly, Adriz (hope the spelling is close to his real name) is friendly and warm. Food was quite nice, both breakfast and dinner. We did the camel sunset ride and the sand boarding, both memorable.

Camel riding and quad biking was a very beautiful experience and we enjoyed a lot. It was an exceptional experience. I thank Hilal for this beautiful arrangement and the safari trip took us 120 minutes and you will enjoy a lot the beautiful views and we saw the Bedouin house and the small camels. I recommend this camp and trying the activities.

The property manager was very attentive for our needs. There are 3 camps at the site. He even lit bonfire for us in the night. We went for dunebashing with him which was great(20 omr). It was worth every penny to stay at the camp. If you prefer privacy book this without second thought.
For travellers who love being in nature with an added sense of luxury. Also called glamping, tented camps provide full or limited services, while surrounded by the wilderness. Typically in permanent or semi-permanent camps, these private tents/yurts are a great way to rough it while staying glamorous.
Experience of a lifetime
Everything planned perfectly down to every detail. The accommodations were amazing and we really enjoyed the stargazing platform at the camp.
Highly recommend the sunset camel ride and desert trek in the morning. Bedouin host was extraordinary he made our trip a memory of a lifetime.
Pickup to the desert, original beduine camp with fire in the evening. The guided tour into the desert with looking the sunset was amazing. Our guide told us much Information about Vegetation, animals and all about living in the desert.
A fabulous night. The camp is located deep into the desert and the ride in over the dunes was part of the fun. It was very peaceful, with only 5 rooms and a perfect setting up on the dunes. We could discard our shoes for the duration of our stay, and had wonderful sunset and dawn walks up into the high dunes directly behind our room. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Amazing experience. It provides a genuine taste of the desert (great sights of dunes and starry nights, a sunset trip to the dunes with the extra perk of dune riding on a jeep), but also offers enough comfort for those who are not too keen on camping. The tents are large, clean and equipped with soft beds and even a small restroom (where you can truly shower under the stars). The staff is very nice. Absolutely recommended.
- highly recommend booking the desert drive for 30 OMR (per car), this included the transfer to/from the camp from the parking lot. The drive to the camp includes a serious uphill section, a cheap 4x4 rental got stuck several and couldn't make it. The desert drive is lots of fun, the driver will drive to 2 viewpoints (for sunset) with fun dune driving in between.
The desert camp is well located to see the extraordinary beautiful sunset. The camp tents are big and comfort to shelter 5-6 people with open sky showering room. Delicious Omani dinner with loads of fruits provided and we specially like the Omani tea and coffee. Camel ride and sunset ride on a 4-wheels car are great experience too.
Great location out of everything in the middle of the desert. A short climb to the top of the big dune with amazing views. Nice staff, though they speak only basic English. Nice dinner, tasty and sitting by the fire enjoying the stars later. The tents are clean ans spacious with roofless bathroom attached. Great for spending a night away from almost everything.
The bungalows are very spacious and comfortable.
Staff super friendly and helpful.
The walk in the dunes behind the camp at sunset is amazing. Breathtaking view over the desert.
Breakfast and dinner excellent with plenty of choice.
