Musa, the houseboat owner, is very helpful and provide very good service. Dinner at Tashkand was our best dining in Kashmir as it's fresh meat, homemade, and no MSG. If you stay here I recommend trying 1 dining at his place. The place is clean and tidy. There's towels and amenities provided. There s no heater in the bedroom but it's replaced with warmed electric blanket which works very well to keep you warm at night, especially in winter. There are free shikara ride across to main road if you paid for shikara ride trip the first or second day. It's a special deal that the houseboat made with shikara riders so you will get the best deal and save money if you get shikara trip. It was the memorable, affordable house boat price. Every morning, you would wake up to a peaceful view of the lake, plus a well-cooked breakfast (try the egg pizza!) The rooms are wonderful, authentic, and full of patterns (a big YES for maximalist) Mr Firdous knows EVERYONE you need, so he is ready to go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. If he cannot help you with that, he will get you the rightest guy for you. As someone who had stayed 2 weeks before staying Veena Palace, I can say finding dinner is challenging in Srinagar, especially if you live on a houseboat. Worry not because his wife is a wonderful cook who performs art with skill and heart. I tried some dishes from the elaborate Kashmiri wazwan, and I cannot recommend enough the crispy rib and the fish curry. The meatball was mashed to perfection; chewy and juicy. I personally learnt so much about heart-to-heart connection, which is something considerable for solo travellers in India, thanks to Mr. Firdous. My words cannot describe enough for my wonderful stay with Mr. Firdous on his houseboat.
