21 km from Situlpawwa, Mailagama Cinnamon Residence is a recently renovated property set in Kataragama and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Awesome place in the middle of rice fields. The best thing about this stay was however the food and all the info about it from the best host!

Located in Bibile, 46 km from Maduru Oya National Park, Nobel Regency provides accommodation with a garden and free private parking. The property features garden views. the entrance to the Regency is unusual as it is behind the main buildings along the street and you go through an underpass to get there. however once there, it feels like you are on a tiny island away from the lively city center. The owner, Ruin, is a man who knows how to answer your questions honestly and accurately. He knows the area and is motivated to create a friendly comfortable, clean, and safe hotel environment. You also have privacy, good food, and can lounge outside under shady roofs. the rooms are spartan but clean and have internet viable monitors. the price including an excellent breakfast was about 11 EUs. Ruin helped my son get a nice pair of pants because my son had ripped his jeans. He also helped arrange a tuk tuk to take us to an old friend of mine who was living in the region. This is an A+ hotel in spirit and actuality. Each room has its own fairly private area where you can stretch out and read a book under a shady roof.

A good location for a hassle-free stay in Tanamalwila, Mayka's luxury holiday homes is a guest house surrounded by views of the garden. Big room and bathroom with space to eat (so we could eat in our room instead of the restaurant upstairs, which was very cute tho...). Best wifi we had during our trip. Great location for Lunugamvehera Safari (we did not book it with them, but it seemed like we could because they also had a safari jeep). The owner speaks dutch and is very nice! We arranged a well priced tuktuk with her, that took us to Dickwella at 7 pm after our safari (about 2.30-3h drive). We enjoyed our stay and definitly recommend when visiting the Lunugamvehera side of Yala national park. Glad there was a restaurant in the hotel, because there did not seem to be much in the area (we didn't mind tho, we were only here for the safari :))

Featuring air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony, Hotel Serugahawatta is set in Wellawaya. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. We, my girlfriend and I, have experienced our stay as a wonderful journey. When we arrived, we were faced with a closed gate, but within seconds the owner arrived. After checking in, we entered the room – perfect! A nice big bed, a clean and spacious bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and everything you could need! After having a little chat, the hotel owner asked about our plans. We mentioned that we came for the nature and tranquility, and without hesitation, he offered to show us around the area. This was the start of an experience we will never forget. 🙏 First, we went to a small waterfall, very local with no tourists – just some local youngsters hanging out who even offered us a beer. Then he took us to Diyaluma Falls – what a massive waterfall that was! He offered us lunch, which he had made himself! A sandwich we’ll never forget; it was incredibly delicious. Next, we visited Buduruwagala Rock Carvings, where the owner introduced us to Buddhism. The place was surrounded by nature – trees, plants, birds – pure enjoyment. We thought we were heading back to the hotel, but nothing could be further from the truth. We visited real monks, where we received blessings and a white bracelet from an elderly monk. They also offered us boiled corn – so tasty! After the visit, we continued back to the hotel. On the way, we ran into a friend of the owner, who invited us to their home. When we arrived, the whole family was there to meet us. What kind and friendly people! They offered us tea and chocolate biscuits, and my girlfriend even received a gift! It gave us such a happy feeling, something we will cherish forever. ❤️ Then it was time to head back to the hotel – or so we thought. Instead, we went elephant spotting! Yes, you read that right – real wild elephants! It got quite late, but we spotted several wild animals, including both a male and female elephant. This, too, will stay with us forever.

Boasting a patio with garden views, free bikes and a garden, Humbhaha jungle yala nature eco resort can be found in Kataragama, close to Kataragama Temple and 18 km from Situlpawwa. If you want to escape the rush of the city and experience true Sri Lanka this is the place for you, it’s a cool quirky place with the jungle right at your doorstep wildlife literally everywhere if you want to take a dip there’s a river attached to the property, had a heap of fun playing drums and dancing. The property itself is unreal get a real cool sunset from the castle type fare at the front. The owner did an exceptional job on the place itself definitely book a few nights cause there’s lots to see and do saw just as many animals in and around the property as I did on my safari! Definitely one of the coolest places I’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka!

Set in Kataragama, Safari Lodge Yala provides a restaurant and garden views, 2.3 km from Kataragama Temple and 16 km from Lunugamvehera National Park. Complimentary WiFi is provided. Really comfortable rooms with good air con. Food was also great the portions sizes were generous. We did the full day safari with breakfast and very impressive lunch provided. They made everything very easy for us thanks for a wonderful stay
