Offering a shared lounge and quiet street view, Shiv Sai Dormitory is located in Vadodara, 3.9 km from Lakshmi Vilas Palace and 41 km from Anand Railway Station. As a solo female traveller from the UK, it was important for me to feel safe and comfortable where I was staying. Shiv Sai Dormitory exceeded my expectations, as I not only felt safe and comfortable, but the owner was very hospitable. He was polite and helpful and even offered to drop me off to some places locally when I needed to go somewhere. Offers of masala chai was a nice touch from the owner too. The room itself was kept clean at all times, had fans and AC, and the beds were comfortable too, with ample space to store and secure luggage within the bed. Access to use the kitchen was useful, with free filtered drinking water available. To top it off, the location was central, near to the shopping areas as well as the railway station, which made it easy to travel around. I have stayed here a few times now and will do so when visiting in the future and I would recommend to anyone looking to stay in Vadodara.

Staff is wonderful, led by Mr Mukesh, was being so nice, so available with us. The hotel in itself is an official heritage complex, beautiful and so calm, so serene. Surprisingly in such a historic place, you feel at home. Room is big, clean, gives you anything you need from a European point of view. We (me and my father) slept so well. Location is right near Manek Chowk, in the heart of the old city. A gem.
