If you are looking for a place that feels like home search no more. As backpackers, this is our favourite place in Colombia and it is Palomino's hidden gem. It's the kind of place that makes you keep extending - we booked three nights and stayed for two weeks. During our stay in Jaba Jan, we found everything we were looking for. It is 3km to Palomino so the town is always accessible but at the same time you can stay away from the crowds. Not only the place is incredibly beautiful and it is located in a privileged spot, but our stay was absolutely amazing thanks to the people there. The owners, Dean and Jen, are two sweethearts. From day one, they always helped us on everything we needed and made sure that our stay was comfy and truly unique. The common spaces are always filled with a great vibe and people gather up for dinner/lunch in a very familiar way. Also, Dean and Jen prepared very sweet get togethers, like canelazo or sangria nights. The activities offered by the hostel are great. The kayak tour around the mangrove is very special and Dean explains the area in a very detailed way. The environment around the hostel is very nice and wild: the river, the mangrove and the almost private beach next to it are great spaces to chill and have a good time. About the facilities, the rooms are always very clean, they have a sports space that is quite big and equipped, the open showers are super beautiful and the kitchen and common areas have everything you need to for cooking, relaxing and enjoying yourself. The price is very fair for what you get and the food (bkf, lunch and dinner) is delicious. The staff are super friendly and helpful! Couldn't recommend this place more :)

Perfect place to stay in Palomino! The staff is super friendly and can help you book tubing if you want. Beautiful cat and cute puppy in the lobby! The rooms are very comfortable, and we enjoyed the hammocks on the patio—incredible views of the mountains! It’s close to the bus stop on the main road and just a 20 minute walk to the beach. Would highly recommend!

Boasting pool views, Hostal La Finquita offers accommodation with balcony, around 600 metres from Palomino Beach. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. *QUIET: Just off the main road but peaceful and quiet. *MOUNTAIN VIEW: You can see snow-caped Sierra Nevada at sunrise *OWNERS - Miguel and his family (Sandy, Norelis) were incredibly kind and helpful. You immediately feel welcome. they are from Palomino and Miguel has a lot of knowledge about anything you wanna know - he’s always up for a good conversation *TRANQUILITY: The entire place transmits so much peace and tranquility form the noisy town *CABANA with floating bed right next to pool was spacious and had enough storage space (large shelf, table with two chairs on patio) *FLOATING BED was comfortable and not moving much and it had a mosquito net (I traveled by myself) *Waking up to the sound of birds was heaven *Pool was cleaned daily, contained Kids area and was illuminated at night * The entire area was huge with mango and plum trees * BREAKFAST was traditional and delicious (eggs, arepa with cheese, huge fruit plate, hot drink and juice) * LAUNDRY on site is very convenient * GUEST SERVICE: Very attentive for guests - I had a personal request related to the food and they made an exception for me

Boasting garden views, Jui Chi MaMa provides accommodation with a garden, around 2.4 km from Palomino Beach. A budding slice of paradise in a quiet corner of Palomino, the care taken in the creation of the space, it’s integration into the surrounding community and ecosystem, and the family-feel of the hospitality makes Jui Chi Mama the place to stay in Palomino. From the moment we were greeted by Germán, we knew the quality of our stay was important to him and his family. Germán took the time to sit with us with a map and orient us in the wider region of the Sierra Nevada and La Guajira province. If you like BIRDS or learning about local ecology and wildlife, you MUST book your tour with Germán. We had one of the best birding walks of our three month trip with his keen eye, beautiful storytelling, and kind and collaborative presence. Our room was very comfortable with a strong fan, comfy bed, great mosquito net, a cute little balcony, and clean private bathroom. The properties garden and communal space was lovely, though we didn’t make as much use out of it as it deserves as we spent most of our day out doing activities.

Boasting a garden, shared lounge and views of inner courtyard, Casa Zaida Hostal Vintage is set in Ríohacha, 800 metres from Playa de Riohacha. This is the cutest and nicest hostel in Colombia, the family who runs it, does it with a lot of heart. We felt very welcomed and really recommend this place!

With garden views, Hostal Nibuni Palomino is situated in Palomino and has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk, bar, garden, sun terrace and year-round outdoor pool. Everything was great, the place, the facilities, the location, breakfast. Jaime, the owner, helped us to book the tours and changed our room for a more spacious one. I will be back for sure!
