The common use of the large kitchen, living room and patio was great, we shared with a large family who occupied multiple rooms, and everyone was friendly and respectful. Situated in Alt Sankt Johann, 300 metres from Alt St. Johann-Sellamatt, Landhaus an der Thur features views of the mountain. The property is around 2.4 km from Iltios-Chaserrugg, 2.6 km from Ruestel. Beautiful area, and the property was very nice. Check in could not have been easier. The property owners were so kind and helpful. Overall, I recommend!

The host Lukas is passionate about the service he provides. The property has been purpose built to be a B&B so has many little touches that makes it a home away from home, with a sunny lounge and bar area for guests to relax, enjoy a drink and a chat. The rooms are modern and well appointed, sparkling clean and the breakfast is gourmet, fresh and locally sourced. My husband wasn’t feeling well and Lukas was very accommodating, which we appreciated greatly. Lukas has an Atelier with handmade, gourmet goodies his brother & he have crafted. Location was great 2mins walk to the train station or 3mins into town.

Offering a restaurant and a bakery, Hirschen Wald is located in the village of Wald and features rooms with free WiFi. The location is exceptional, one a one lane road in the mountains of Appenzell. It was mid April but we had a lot of snow every day, but the roads were plowed and the hotel is very accessible, even in poor weather. The hotel is old but the interior is updated and the rooms are large, modern, and very clean. The food is excellent and they cooked two unique Swiss items for us that were not on the menu. The staff is exceptional.

Surrounded by hills and mountains, the family-run Hotel Landgasthaus Neues Bild, Eggerstanden occupies a historic building, a 10-minute drive from the centre of Appenzell. The hotel was fabulous, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was the best we had in all of Switzerland. If you are into hiking this is the hotel for you. We give our stay two thumbs up!
