Family run hostel, they were very kind and helpful! Gave many recommendations. Offered us to join a coffee night in English to chat with the locals. Get tea and coffee. Owner is beyond amazing. The definition of the extreme hospitality you’ll find in Nikko! Even though breakfast is not included, she made us the most wonderful breakfast including fresh persimmons from her own tree! Even gave us small gifts that she made herself! House is beautiful and very well maintained. Super clean! Cleanest hostel / home share I have ever been to. Rooms are massive! Large living space and a separate large bedroom all to yourself. Plus the shared kitchen and washrooms. And location is great! Super close to the Train station / main bus loop, but far enough to be nice and quiet!

The host was very welcoming and accommodating. Traditional provided breakfasts were wonderful. She even drove us to a shrine on the first day to make sure we could get to it before it closed. This was a perfect stay house for a couple looking to get away from the bustle of a hotel.

Lovely, clean and quiet place. Izumi was a great host. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We had the privilege to see a mother deer with its fawn from our deck, it was spectacular. We highly recommend this beautiful stay.

Quiet scenic location. Everything walking distance. There are several restaurants near by. We didn’t have breakfast at the property so can’t comment. Lovely private onsen. First come first serve. Next to the river so can watch the river flowing by from the onsen. Kanmangafuchi Abyss starts at the hotel. Don’t miss it.

Great hosts who went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. Spotless house, quiet location, beautiful touches to make it feel homely, an awesome bath that stays hot and fills automatically- the best bath I have ever had! Hosts had information including timetables for buses, shows at edo wonderland at their finger tips. Walking distance - 5mins to bus stop and only 10mins tops to train station. Host also took us to the train station in their private car - very friendly, polite and helpful. Loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.

Great location for visiting the shrines and temples. Quiet and cosy, old style and comforting. Free tea and coffee and use of tableware if you want to eat your own food. Friendly owner with great advice about where to visit and where to eat. Spotless shared washrooms. Great private Japanese style baths for a good soak at the end of the day. Easy access by bus from the station. I enjoyed the breakfast of toast, an egg, fruit, and coffee (not included in my room price); it was perhaps a little pricey but very convenient.
