My husband and I were warmly greeted by curious dwarf horses as we approached the beautiful property. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay at this stunning place. It rained throughout our short visit, but it only added to the ambience of the place. The access to delicious food at less than a kilometer away made this property all the more pleasant. The lodge is located just off the CBD of Hokitika and a short walk to the beach. What was really nice is that due to a physical issue, I found it a challenge to carry our suitcases upstairs. I emailed the hosts and they promptly arranged for us to stay in a larger downstairs unit, at the same cost. (It just happened to be available for the nights we stayed.) Also, the firestation decor was a lot of fun. Kitchen was great and well equiped for out breakfast preparation.
