Ferno is a small town next to the airport. Doesn't have a lot to see or to do but for one nigth is really good. There is a incredible restaurant there that's calls Osteria San Martino that's has really good wine and food.
Milano was the end of a 3 month trip in Europe and Villa Malpensa was the perfect place to leave from. The quiet, well appointed villa gave me just the experience I needed to integrate the need to go home with the amazing trip I had. It was quiet, restful, room for walking in the village and I loved the historical information available at check-in. The restaurant was high quality food with formal dining vibe that impressed. Well done, everyone! AND..the internet was fast.
The town itself is not much. A nice little piazza/main church and a few shops. The big thing to see here is the Parco Ticino with miles of walking trails through the woods that border the airport. Fascinating place with an open air history museum. Worth a trip.
The room was comfortable overall, and the TV screen was really big which we enjoyed. We had to stay one full day in the hotel room with the kids until our next flight, so that was a good bonus to have a good TV. The food in the a la carte restaurant was very good as well although a bit pricy. The negative side was the price for the transportation from/to the Malpensa Airport - the taxi ride that took like 5 minutes cost 25 euros and the same price for the shuttle bus (the price for the family). No public transport to get to the Milan center so we skipped the day trip to the center and stayed in the hotel. The minimarket was a 10/15-minute walk, but it was closed on Sunday (which the receptionist did not know, so he directed us to the supermarket anyway). I wish we could have bought some snacks to the hotel room. The kettle in the room was working somehow but the plastic was broken, so it didn't look safe. The minifridge did not work and it was really cold the first night on the sofa bed (the only decent blanket was on the double bed). But then we turned on the heating and the second night we did not feel cold.
Well if you are transiting or spending 1 or more nights near the airport this is the perfect place I think such a great value for money! the attention to the details was incredible it felt like a 5 star luxury hotel!
Very close to MXP airport. Italy has a very good rail network and Ferno has a train station about 1 mile from the B&B I have stayed in. You can have a full course lunch for 15 euros at a nearby restaurant
