The hotel just a 10-minute drive from the Cité Médiévale and the centre of Carcassonne. It is 800 meters from exit "ouest" on the A61 Motorway. Good Air - conditioning. I asked for an extra towel, and Alain the owner gave me an extra towel. I also asked for an extra toilet roll, and he told me to ask the cleaning staff. One of the cleaners , gave me one. All the staff were helpful and friendly.

Pennautier is a beautiful town. Very quiet, but many beautiful things to see. The Boulangerie just down the road from La Beytina makes the BEST caramel muffins I have ever had. I also recommend the quiche – YUM. We were so excited to stumble across a food truck in town serving New Zealand and Pacific Islander food! I recommend the fish and chips and Honey Soy Chicken. As we were in town for a wedding, we didn't spend much time sight seeing in Pennautier or Carcassonne. Next time we return, we will definitely stay at La Beytina, so we can tour the area a bit more.
The castle and the old town are amazing, the views from there are great too The new town centre has a little square with a lot of places to sit and watch the world go by The town has a nice relaxed vibe
We stayed in Carcassonne for three nights, spending the first day exploring the Cite de Carcassonne and doing a self guided tour of the castle. There are lots of streets to explore with shops, bars and restaurants. There are also some hotel options within the walls. Just through the entrance on the right hand side there is a tourist information office who can help you plan your visit.
It is a beautiful small city with a lovely calmness to it very picturesque sitting having coffee ands vino watching the world go by in the busy world we live in it was quite soothing . The massive trees that line the streets are so so gorgeous ( it was pretty windy which made the trees rustle and wave about against the beautiful blue skies looked fabulous.
Carcassonne is a great place for a city break. You need at least two maybe three days to do both the Medieval city and Carcassonne. Bus transfers from the airport into Carcassonne are easy. A shuttle bus meets every flight and drops off at the Rail Stn, the town and the medieval city for 6 Euro per person. Transfer is 4km and takes about 20 mins. We stayed at Le Chevaliers which is situated between the two towns and whist it is an uphill walk to the medieval city it is possible with a reasonable level of fitness (10 Euro's in a taxi). The walk around the ramparts is well worth doing but requires you to be able to cope with lots of steps both up and down but the views are incredible.
Great location, perfect for visiting the Carcassonne, both the Bastide & the medieval Cite. Fabulous property, truly relaxing stay, amazing breakfast. Friendly & really helpful hosts, we would return.
