I recently had the pleasure of staying at Villa Tanderra in Sri Lanka, which was an amazing experience. We were a party of 6 all female friends. From the moment we stepped foot onto the property, we were captivated by the sheer beauty and tranquility that surrounded us.
The rooms were spacious, bright, and well maintained. Each bedroom was comfortable, featuring plush beds, high-quality linens, and 3 had breathtaking views of the ocean. The en-suite bathrooms were fitted with luxurious fixtures, rain showers, and quality products.
One of the highlights of this villa was its indoor / outdoor living spaces. The expansive dining table was perfect for long lunches. It overlooked the pool at one side and the garden on the other. Really felt that it was inside outside living.
The staff at the villa were exceptional in every way. They were warm, welcoming, and always went above and beyond to ensure that every need was met. From the moment we arrived, we received a personalized service that left a lasting impression. The private chef, Santha, prepared delectable meals, showcasing the finest flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine, and the attentive housekeeping staff Sampath and Darshana ensured that the villa was always in pristine condition.
In conclusion, our stay at this amazing villa in Sri Lanka was nothing short of magical. It exceeded all our expectations in terms of luxury, beauty, and hospitality. Wow, what an amazing boutique hotel by the beach. We stayed in the romantic villa, it was just fabulous, spacious, very clean and the private pool was just a dream!

Third visit to the resort, which has been upgraded and now includes some luxurious villas, a second restaurant and a pool. Staff provided their usual excellent service, The villa was huge and fitted really well with the surroundings. Though the sea can be quite rough in this area of Sri Lanka, being in the middle of nature makes up for it. Food and drinks were reasonably priced, freshly prepared and tasted great. Breakfasts were very healthy. Would not hesitate to return again.
We got the villa room which was great value for money compared to western prices. Very boutique resort vibe, so it was nice and quiet. You can tell management has a strong focus on upkeep around their grounds. Beachfront also (the villas are set back from the beach however - but only a 2 min walk to the sand).
This is my second time visiting Shivas and therefore would highly recommend it to everyone. The location is very peaceful and the staff are great.
We had one of the beachfront villas and spent the afternoon lying in our hammock relaxing which is exactly what we were looking for at this part of our trip.
After dinner one night we took a walk along the beach and found the conservation project were out looking for turtles, we managed to see a turtle heading back to the sea after laying her eggs which was very special.
I think place is quiet ok but we stayed during non seasonal time so comparing other home stays in Sri Lanka this place is quite expensive. It says "luxury villas" on their tables but it is just a room without anything special. In rooms there are no tea/coffee or electrical device for something to drink. You have to buy everything from their restaurant. Also even tea/coffee are really expensive...
Everything was perfect here. We booked 2 private villas that were very beautiful and calm. The food was delicious (you can book lunch and dinner here, if you want to). My mom and me had ayurvedic massages which we loved - I really recommend trying it. Also, one day we got food poisoned (not in this hotel) and the staff, especially Supun, was so nice about it - they agreed to prepare just some plain rice for us for our dinner. Even though it’s a bit further from the Tangalle city, it’s a perfect place to relax.
We visited Good Karma as part of our honeymoon. the staff were attentive and friendly, going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble. The grounds and private villas are spacious and secluded - perfect for those who want to truly relax and enjoy the beautiful beach side location. The hotel kindly arranged a romantic dinner for us on the beach which was a great way to end our stay and certainly a highlight of our trip.
