Where do I start. I could not say ありがとうございます！ enough Keko and her husband were the most hospitable family we have ever experienced. Top notch in all regards and absolutely no complaints at all. It is so comforting to stay here almost as if you’re at your grandmas house. There was conversation flowing all day and night despite our lack of Japanese knowledge. Keko was genuinely interested in both our lives and travels and through google and broken Japanese we were able to tell her all about it. If you are staying in the area this is a must do!!! More than a stay, it’s an experience you will never forget.

Our host was incredibly welcoming and upgraded us to a recently built house next door so this review is for that house .It is a huge house for Japan and very clean and modern.They have a mini shop and bar that is cheap and handy as it's quite isolated so you need a car.
We loved the wee village and as it was snowing it was just beautiful sitting alongside a lake.
Communication with the host was excellent.We drove to Guru, only about 20 min for breakfast and an onsen the next day..quite a big town.

The house is very big and comes fully equipped. We spent 4 nights here and our main hoal was to give our daughter a brake from a busy travel schedule. Mister Katsuyuki was super friendly to us and especially to our little daughter. He even gave her a very special gift when we left. I really liked that, despite the language barrier, mr Katsuyuki sang was open to conversation. This made our stay evermore memorable as we learned new things about Japan and Japanese people.

Very nice natural location. It's right next to a clear blue river.
Hosts were very nice to us, gave us vegetables and fruit as a gift.
House was nice clean and comfortable. Plenty of cooking appliances.
Had a nice camp fire, saw stars at night.

The guesthouse is occupied by an elderly couple. Even if the communication was a bit difficult (They speak little english and I speak little japanese) they were always very kind and helpful. A free little breakfast was included every morning, and they washed and dried my clothes for me free of charge.
All in all a very warm and welcoming service.
Perfect for families, groups or couples who enjoy luxury and independence while travelling. Enjoy the space and privacy of these fully-furnished, self-standing mansions — travellers can cook, lounge and explore at their leisure. Note that in Bali, a resort will also be called a villa.

Clean and comfortable traditional inn with tatami floor and futon beds. Loved the private onsen that you can book for 45 mins. Staff were very friendly. Location was good too, walkable distance to the Gassho Village and the food street.
Traditional ryokan that is very welcoming. Highly recommended to book your stay with meals. We love the dinner and breakfast served to us in the restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor onsen which is well maintained. There are also free coffee and cold water for you to drink at the lobby area. There is also a small souvenir stall for you to shop. Upon check out, we managed to get the Gero Onsen Gassho Village tickets from the reception at a discounted price.
The public baths, the meals and the service were all fantastic. The location and easy access to the village was also very nice. The person who served our meals was very kind and polite, despite the language barrier.
It was an amazing experience. There wasn't an information about shuttle bus service and local city on the booking, but it is very convenient things. Car rent is not necessarily.
Food was delicious, souvenirs are the same price as in the town. Onsen is great. Property itself has many places to walk around.
There is also small market and Gero Onsen Gassho Village- nice places to visit
10 min form the train station, located at the river, and close to main shops. Short walk uphill to the Ghasso Village. Very accommodating English speaking staff. We tried the private onsen for 4000 Yen and it was fabulous! Very clean, big rooms with nice energy.
