Even though the photos may look very 90s, the house itself is very cleanly and stylishly decorated. It is very much out in the fields and you hear all the wildlife if you open the windows. The host was very friendly and allowed us to check in later than listed for which we were very thankful.
あんばええ is a recently renovated vacation home in Kōyabayashi where guests can make the most of the garden and shared lounge.

The host was wonderful to us and the location was perfect for a family of 7 - in the middle of nature, with a small stream running behind the house, a spacious sitting/bbq area outside, and all the necessary facilities. The kids, who had never been to Japan, are really excited to visit again someday soon! Thank you so much for being so accommodating!
Perfect for families, groups, or couples who enjoy luxury and independence while traveling. Enjoy the space and privacy of these fully-furnished, free-standing mansions – travelers can cook, lounge, and explore at their own pace. Note that in Bali, a resort will also be called a villa.
Very stylish, luxurious-feeling dormitory room. We had access to the three lounge spaces to chill in and the kitchen and little eating room.
Staff was very nice, spoke great english.
The location is perfect!! And it’s such an adorable building.
Loved the location , the host offered to arrange a ‘meal’ of fish and vegetables prior to our arrival. This turned out to be an amazing meal at a small restaurant in the village. Such a treat
Superlative traditional ryokan experience with attentive, gracious staff in magnificent garden setting and impeccably maintained late Edo period detached residences. Outstanding, highly creative in-room dinner and breakfast included. Transfers to station and Nakasendo post road walking trail through forest and restored villages provided. If you are looking for the real thing this is it.
The ultimate Japanese experience! Beautiful old village. The staff were really accommodating and gave us good advice regarding the walks in the area, and the availability of local buses. We walked along the Nakasendo trail to Tsumago on the day of our arrival, and then to Ochiaijuku along the wonderful Ochiai stone path on our way back to Nakatsugawa. We had booked dinner in Magome Chaya as everything in the village closes at 5 pm, and this turned out to be a very varied and copious Japanese meal.
The hotel looks like a beautiful little village for preservation. We slept in a small house that is over 150 years old. The staff is lovely, always looking for ways to help. Dinner and breakfast were works of art.
