A wonderful place in the hub of the city, yet on the edge of the countryside, hotel in Amesbury

Set in Salisbury, 300 metres from Salisbury Train Station, less than 1 km from Salisbury Cathedral and 3.5 km from Old Sarum, A wonderful place in the hub of the city, yet on the edge of the...

Pretty much every aspect of this place. It was spacious, clean, in a great location. All round it's the best stay we've had here in the UK. There is a very private courtyard outside the dining room that also contains the washer and drier, although hidden behind two slatted doors like a cupboard. Connected to the small third bedroom is another veranda with a table and a couple of chairs. Definitely a good deal all round.

The Carriage House, hotel in Amesbury

The Carriage House, a property with a garden, is situated in Salisbury, 5.9 km from Salisbury Train Station, 7.8 km from Old Sarum, as well as 11 km from Salisbury Racecourse.

Based on the online reviews and photos we knew that the interior was going to be of a very high standard and we were not disappointed - the living space worked particularly well. What we hadn't quite realised was that the property is set in such an amazing location, with fantastic views over the river valley and wide open spaces to roam and enjoy. We were visiting a nonagenarian relative during our 2 day stay - we would have happily stayed on for longer were it not for my granddaughter having to return home for the new school term...

It is based on a farm with the option to wonder around for free. There is animal feed available if interested, a restaurant/café which is nice to pop into but only offers the basics within the shop for those residing here. However the restaurant does offer amazing food. Its idyllic, quiet and peaceful, a good place for a retreat or to go somewhere if you are a travelling artist or writer.

It’s mixture of contemporary and original architecture. The room I stayed in had great character. It was immaculately clean and was well appointed with luxury teabags , coffee and biscuits. Bottles of water provided also. Great quality toiletries in the bathroom , and a rubber duck 😁 The staff are warm and friendly . Lovely breakfast
