Owner manager very helpful with checking in and getting there which can be complicated. Very clean and as with almost everywhere in the tiny area it’s within a very short walk from the boats, restaurants and tour operators. We had the second floor apartment which I think would be better because of all the rain. There are plenty of outlets in the bed area and the hot water worked well with high pressure. There is a coffee machine,, coffee and sugar with mugs (but no filters). The best attitude to have when you’re in Tortuguero is that you’re going camping. It’s a luxury to have the cold ac that this place has. Besides the constant loud croaking of toads this area is quiet like most areas of the peninsula/lagoon.

Great location, by the soccer field. The beach was across the field. Everything in town was very close.

Great place to stay when visiting the Tortuguero area. Away from the busy village. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Helped us organise tours with an excellent local guide.
You need to know how is Tortuguero to appreciate the luxury at El Deseo Serendipity. Standards are not the usual. For us two major luxuries were windows and Air Conditioning. A plus were the beds which were really comfortable. So far the best in our trip, and we’ve been to other nice hotels. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. They run the place very efficiently. Also you’re located in Tortuguero, so you don’t need Taxi’s to access the restaurants or tourist tours.
Lovely beachfront property and easy access to the main shops and restaurants. Rooms were very clean with air conditioning. Staff very polite and helpful. Good WiFi throughout.
The room was very nice and clean. I was worried that being 5 people we would feel too crowded, but we didn't. Nice bathroom too.
The room is right on the river at the dock, which meant we didn't have to carry our luggage anywhere. The hostess was very kind and taught us how to walk to our beach entrance and the village to eat and shop.
The price was great for private room with a big bed and I especially enjoyed the air con. Also the kanoe tour I booked through the hostel was amazing, it was a little more expensive than some other options in town, but we were only three people on a small boat while other groups were on big and loud motor boats.
The hostel is kind of hidden in the back of the village, but it has a view of the ocean, which is stunning!
If your looking for luxury, then this may not be for you. But if your looking for location, character, beauty, great service, something different, peace and quiet, wildlife, charming owners, then this could well be for you. Owner a real character and does everything he can to look after you.

Combining laid-backless with light jungle luxury for a great price this place is right “central” in the Tortuguero village (something that we didn’t realise how important it is when booking). The pool is delightful, and the beach-stretch also. Combining a morning maritime tour with a self-administered walk in the National park in the afternoon is splendid, and the place can recommend the best tours, set you up with massage in the in-house mini-spa or just be generally lovely. Air-con worked well.
