Overall food and coffee in Mecca isn’t great.
Overall food and coffee in Mecca isn’t great. I hardly enjoyed anything I ate and the coffee experience almost everywhere was terrible. Tim Hortons and Starbucks was not good, the milk and cream tastes off. I’m from Canada so this was very different than what I’m used to. Even their fast food restaurant Albeik is so disgusting and worse than McDonalds in Canada.
We were there for Umrah, so it was more of a mission than a vacation. The Haram is a beautiful experience and that was the main point of our trip there.

This hotel was few hundred meters away from Masjid e haram.
This hotel was few hundred meters away from Masjid e haram. There is a nearby bus station. If you’re travelling from Jedah to Makkah, a train is highly recommendable and Makkah station to this place by car, would cost around 40 to 50 SAR if there is no traffic. Taxis are recommendable over Pvt taxis. They will charge you anything :). Travel to this place after a decade and his gone sea change since then. Good infrastructure developed; hotels have improved a lot. Lot of taxi services. Thumps up to the leadership of the country for this. If you’re hiring a rent a car, its worth, as a tourist, one should not have problem. Train services between Jedah city to Makkah and Medina are big blessings of a lot of time saving. Jeddah to Makah by train is only 50 mins and Makkah to medina only 2 hours.

It was good decision to stay near The Mosque Haram.
It was good decision to stay near The Mosque Haram. Good shopping outlets. Way cheaper goods and variety of food at fraction of cost compared to rest of Gulf. Generally found prices in Saudi Arabia way lower than rest of Gulf countries.
