This holy city is located in western Saudi Arabia and is also known as Makkah. It is one of the Five Pillars of Islam to make a pilgrimage here, and therefore is a destination for millions of Muslims each year. Non-muslims are not permitted into Mecca and the government of Saudi Arabia issues special visas for people making the pilgrimage. Most people coming to the Mecca will enter via the Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah is the gateway to the city.

Mecca contains many restaurants with varied cuisine and tea shops are available for light refreshments such as traditional tea and cookies. There are also many juice stands for a little refreshment amid the heat. Ranging from luxury hotels to basic accommodations, Booking.com offers over 80 hotels for your time in Mecca.
It was my first time in Makkah and I really loved it.
It was my first time in Makkah and I really loved it. Weather was a bit hot for me but it was manageable in terms of when to go out. People I met were lovely and I could have stayed longer. It’s of course the place to do Umrah and Hajj but there still a lot to be done and see. Looks more developed and have many options to eat and drink. A bit expensive in terms of shopping but there are place to find where you can buy things with better prices

I never knew its kinda hilly city so i booked a wrong hotel with family which was situated on a slop hence made difficult for us to travel by foot to Kabah. I changed the hotel next day to be on the ground/surface level and it changed our experience a lot. Keep that in mind as not many people have shared this.

Staying close to Haram is a major plus to shorten commute...
Staying close to Haram is a major plus to shorten commute for namaz. The mall like system internally in the clock towers had every store possible for shopping & food. A variety of People from all
Over the world were there for same reasons. It’s gets really crowded at namaz times & especially Jummah. There are beggars & people pushing products & services everywhere. Negotiations is a must at the markets. Overall cleaning was constant & good to see it as a priority. If sick don’t waste money at clinic but go straight to a pharmacy & they are like doctors will prescribe you medicine. Currency exchange places located thruout & visa accepted everywhere. People can be rude & lineups at food places always. Bring your patience & keep expectations low for best results!
