Once we figured out parking in our jetlagged haze, the hotel is right in the middle of "old town". It is easy to walk to a variety of key sights. Lots of restaurants around. The breakfast is expensive, and there are many coffee/bakeries near by that are better value. The staff is helpful and polite.

The location and facilties were very good. A very nice breakfast
Downtown Reykjavik is full of life, joy and culture, so it can be noisy at night. We recommend enjoying the live music at the bar downstairs, which will stop at 11 in the night.

I like the city. Small, manageable on foot. My favorite place is the Brauð bakery. The cinnamon snail is absolutely delicious.
Visited several museums this time. A lot of us love Vikings. Become one, dress up at mink Viking Portrait. Great fun, great photos, favorite souvenir.
The city is also a great starting point for day trips.

Great, super relaxed but quite small town.
Great, super relaxed but quite small town. I was here for a week on a conference but in a week you definitely have seen Reijkjavik. If you’re on a holiday clearly there would be more time to venture out on ton of excursions that are on offer. That said, definitely planning on coming back to explore rest of Iceland. Food amazing

Very cute town with lots of choices but stupidly expensive to eat out. We did a food tour which was a great place to meet other travellers for a chat and eat delicious titbits. Bearing in mind cost of eating out think it is worth the splurge. Don’t come without a traditional swimming costume, cost to hire at Sky Lagoon was £30. Posthaus was a good place to eat because lots of delicious food and about £20 a head which is reasonable by Icelandic standards.

Excellent place with many activities,
Iceland as a whole has the purest air and water I have ever encountered. The people are very friendly and the activities both in the city and in nature are unique.
I totally recommend it!

We scheduled our stay in Reykjavik at the end of our trip...3 nights. It was very nice to decompress after driving around the entire island. Fun nightlife vibe, great street to be on. Good shopping. I do suggest either buying the stereotypical Icelandic sweater from a smaller mom and pop shop outside of the city. The Icelandic Wool Association sweaters are very expensive to the almost 24% tax rate. If not buying locally, you can purchase online for much less. Also booked a 'premium' trip to the Blue Lagoon. Really fun! Bring flip flops (or similar) and either a gopro or a bag to put your phone in. You'll want to take pictures and it's certainly cheaper to bring your own.

The temperature is a lot colder than you think it is and the wind can be brutal. I underdressed completely for the trip I took. Only used Booking for an extra night hotel stay. Also everything else is extremely expensive and you don’t expect it. So be prepared. The pictures are scenes around the country not just Reykjavík.
The accomodation was clean and the location is really perfect, the BSÍ bus terminal was close by, it's a walking distance to the city centre, plus there are a bunch of day trips where a bus will pick you up directly from the hostel. The rooms, beds and bedding were simple but quite comfortable and clean. There are a lot of bathrooms on every floor so even with the hostel almost full, I never waited too long for one. The kitchenette has everything you need to make a quick. For such a cheap price, this is really an amazing place to stay.
Eric the Red Guest House was amazing - the location was perfect being close to the church, downtown, cafes, restaurants, and right next to a tour bus stop. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. The staff are friendly, communicative and easy to contact. Kitchen facilities were great to keep things cheap(er). This isn’t a big hotel, it’s much nicer - more like a homestay or bed and breakfast.
The room was facing the Old Harbour and situated near some fabulous restaurants, as well as a short walk away from the center of Reykjavik. We had a great stay here - the hotel is very quirky and we appreciated the library and living spaces downstairs. It was easy to take the bus to and from the airport as well as to the Blue Lagoon.
Grand Hotel is located on the edge of Reykjavik which is good for departing the city, but if you want to be right downtown then it's a good 30min walk. There is a free transport service every hour during the day which is perfect.
