Skip the winter. It rains forever. Iceland looks amazing in many pictures, but the truth is more complicated. Everything is expensive and despite the natural monuments, the country is full of emptiness. Long distances with kinds of moonscape. It does not look like planet earth. However, the gems are amazing, but it is difficult to get there. I think the best of the country is in fact the people. They were extremely kind everywhere, which is not the rule in Europe.

I highly recommend visiting this city.
I highly recommend visiting this city. It's interesting all around from the natural sites to the local museums and art galleries that are informative and interactive. It has a uniqueness to it compared to other European cities that's worth experiencing.

Reykjavik can be a great place to stay and take day excursions, e.g. to the hot springs at Geysir geothermal area, Vik with the black sand beach and basalt cliffs, or the Snaefellsness peninsula (black pebble beach and more). Be aware these mean several hours of driving. Close by is the Blue Lagoon, Sky Lagoon, and the Perlan Museum.
Reykjavik has amazing restaurants and shopping, but is highly expensive (think Manhattan).

The northernmost port city in the world!
The northernmost port city in the world! lots of gorgeous sights to see. downtown can lack a bit of luster for someone used to american nightlife but understandable due to how cold & desolate the place can get. For a city with a population of just over 150k i felt quite intrigued with the scandanavian archetecture and cuisine. A one of a kind place to visit!
Me and my Girlfriend stayed for just about 8 Days and found that to be the perfect amount of time to do about 4 tours, eat out at 10ish restaurants, and see the perlan museum, some parks and the main church. Im sure thats not really "everything to do" in reykjavik, however we became slightly bored by the end of the week. for those more interested in bar hopping or food tasting. theres a lot more in the way of that, downtown.
Overall i would rate the trip a 8.5/10. Highly recommend touring the country side and just immersing in the culture and landscape. Absolutely otherworldly!

The city itself is quite small and unremarkable with the center filled with mostly tourist shops. October weather is unstable, but you come to Iceland for the nature, which was absolutely mind blowing! Will visit again. Hopefully in the summer. If there is such a thing up there.

Lovely, welcoming and helpful staff. Our room was spacious, airy and very comfortable. Large bathroom, great walk in shower, and a nice range of toiletries. Breakfast was simple but still provided a nice choice. The hotel was easy to reach from the airport, plenty of parking space, and whilst not central we had an easy walk into downtown Reykjavik to go out in the evening. All in all a great start to our round trip of Iceland.
Modern with facilities. It's one of the newer hotels outside Reykjavík city centre. For the price is much better then the expensive ones in the city centre which look out dated / from the past. Also self check in is excellent if you don't want to see the staff or just wat to do everything on your own. I don't see the staff at all when I stay, but for me that's fine.
One of the less times I give 5 start to an hotel ;)
The best place to stay in Reykjavik. The hotel is in the hearth of the city and close to many restaurants, shops and bus stops. The staff is really friendly and always available. We also had an update of the room without extra charge. The room was clean, with a comfortable bed and shower.
The room was clean and had almost everything needed for a short stay. The city centre was only a 20 minute walk away and the supermarket next door was really handy. The area is also very quiet at night. Perfect room for a couple looking for a cheaper stay in Reykjavik!
