The location was really good, ideal for visiting Balmoral castle etc. Beautiful views from our room. Breakfast was excellent.
Lovely little town with many eateries and a couple of bars.
Lovely little town with many eateries and a couple of bars. Loved The Balmoral Bar and visited here several times for food & drinks. We ate a meal at Lochnagar Indian, very good food and excellent service. Large Co-op in town centre with anything you could need while visiting. Plenty coffee shops to choose from, we tried Brown Sugar Coffee Shop, excellent service and lovely coffee & cakes. We took a circular walk to Cambus O May suspension bridge, passing by the Cambus O May Cheese Shop & Cafe for lunch - amazing toasties! Drove to Burn O Vat and loved clambering up the waterfall side to the top, followed by a great lunch at The Boat Inn in Alford. There was so much more to explore and we will definitely return.

Great place to visit, ample shops for food, with may different tourist shops. Good choice of excellent coffee shops, bars and restaurants, to meet all budgets. One of our regular day trip destinations, but stayed for three nights to do local walks, enjoy the restaurants and the surrounding scenery. The Royals connection makes it interesting to buy from the King's local butcher, pharmacy and bakery all with Royal Warrants Displayed. Very friendly people. Ample free parking.
Can recommend the Balmoral Bar, The Fish Shop (restaurant).

Such a lovely town nestled in the most beautiful mountains and scenery of Royal Deeside. Local walks are amazing. The town centre boasts many places to eat, independent shops, cafes and amenities. Close to Glenshee for the ski-ing season and summer Highland Games Ballater offers a relaxing stay for any tourist wishing to experience the outdoors, quiet stay or base to visit surrounding Aberdeenshire areas.

Though the drive was long and windy, our visit to Ballater was spectacular! Dotted with rolling hills and scenic rivers, Ballater is one of the most tranquil towns I’ve ever stayed in!
Filled with so much history , and place host to the Royal Family in Balmoral, the village provides a peaceful retreat from a busy city life! Gentlemen farmers wear traditional tweed jackets, waist coats and flat hats with wellies! How can one look so good in wellies! 👍

Excellent Continental breakfast incl. very fresh fruit salad. Very peaceful setting in spacious gardens, convenient for Ballater which is a beautiful town with excellent eating places. Lovely views. Recently refurbished small hotel, clearly once a grand villa - I liked the fact that the hotel deliberately retains the original period style of the house, with discreet modern fittings. Rooms very sound-proof. Very friendly staff.
The hotel is in a great location in the centre of Ballater - you simply step outside and the attractive town and the beautiful Deeside scenery is there in front of you! Staff were welcoming and helpful, the single room was fine for one person with a very comfy bed. The evening meal was delicious. I enjoyed a continental breakfast (cannot therefore comment on the hot food on offer) in the lovely breakfast room.
We were caught in the area due to storm Babbet and happened to be booked into this hotel and how lucky were we! The staff went above and beyond to make our stay and all the other guests so happy and comfortable under dreadful circumstances. We both had a personal spa treatment which was absolutely amazing!
Lovely converted old building forming a small but well equipped two person ‘granny flat’. Very quiet peaceful location within easy walking distance to Ballater centre, nice secluded outdoor seating area. Nice homely touches to the decor made it feel very welcoming.
Look forward to a return visit soon!
