I have been traveling to PVR for a long time and I am always happy to visit. The people are always welcoming, it is a safe destination and the surrounding beaches are beautiful. With a booming tourist market, prices have increased significantly. It is however still affordable, the seafood is exceptional and the prices a fraction of what you would pay in places like New York city.

The city is pretty safe to tourists, a lot of nice places to visit with amazing views. Take a day to walk around downtown, the streets and stairs, some art all around will entertain you a lot. And of course, you have the beach and all the water activities. It is a nice vacation, enough for 3 nights 4 days. Find yourself a spa on your last day so you can relax and have your muscles relaxed after so much sun and walks.

I don't like the fact that it's a tourist destination, but I go there for Day of the Dead. And it annoys me that Mexicans continue to speak to me in English when I reply in fluent Spanish. I guess that's the price to pay for blue eyes and blonde hair. Other questions don't apply because I have lived in Mexico for 23 years. I'm not a tourist.

One of the tour guides I had reported that Puerto Vallarta was ranked first for friendliest city in Mexico, and fifth safest in the country and I agree. Everybody is super welcoming, refer to you as “Amigo/Amiga” (friend) upon entering their shop/stand, and super complaisant with all the tourism. Many tours are actually English, not to mention getting around is super easy considering Uber is available and cheap. The place is very much LBGTQ welcoming, especially during Pride month. Tons of shops, tons of delicious restaurants, and the weather during end of June was actually perfect for us because it was cloudy, not humid, and the rain would come down at night. Definitely coming back! I recommend using Viator for reasonably priced tours that vary from 2-5hrs in length. Staying at Hotel Tropicana was super convenient for us because it was within walking distance to beach, the boardwalk, and one of the many shopping districts where vendors set up.

Hotel, Hotel Boutique Rivera del Rio, was close enough to walk to places, had a lovely bar and pool, excellent service. There was a good variety of neighborhoods & things to do with room for more to do, friendly people. I enjoyed walking along the boardwalk, especially in the evenings and nights. Cafe de Artistes, The Blue Shrimp, and Mar Y Vino were all fantastic places to eat. If you're staying at one of the beachfront resorts, most places to eat and go shopping at will be easy to walk to. From Old Town, things are still walkable. You'll be glad you took Ubers and taxis in the hotter months. Uber is reliable, both rides booked in advance and those rides requested on the fly. I'd come back again but perhaps in the cooler months when it will be more comfortable to walk around.

I can see beautiful sunset from the room. They have a large selection of restaurants and bars. Shows and activities were also great. Private beach and pools were amazing too.
It is lovely to stay at all inclusive hotel like this. No need to think or worry about anything. You can simply enjoy beauty of the nature there.
This was my second time staying at this hotel. The staff is great, goes above and beyond to accommodate to what you need. The hotel is right on the beach, the rooftop is a great option for a cloudy day, and the gym is pretty good with brand new equipment.
First time in Mexico and stop over in Puerta Vallarta. Wanted to stay somewhere a little cooler than the big resort hotels - and this place was PERFECT.
