Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and cable cars. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.
At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.
While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of tunnels you can visit and even a Graeco-Roman theater which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!
Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artifacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.
As for accommodations, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city center apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Very crowded, extremely dirty, trash everywhere even in central locations, smelly, a lot of homeless people, narrow streets, no place is safe for pedestrians, cars and scooters are E V E R Y W H E R E, just a smelly dirty chaotic place, i regret going. Go to Sicily instead.
The good: good pizza, ancient landmarks, visiting Pompeii ruins & Vesuvius.

A beautiful city with a mix of historical and upcoming high rise building. The bay of Naples was very scenic with historic sites close by. The roads were congested with difficult to find parking places.

Naples has lots to offer and is great value for money. Access to Pompeii and other historic sites is very good, and the city has a lot of historic buildings and museums, as well as a lovely waterfront, good restaurants and a great view of Vesuvius. It is easy to get around Naples by public transport or on foot. We loved the atmosphere and vibe of the city.

Napoli is a unique city with great history and culture.
Napoli is a unique city with great history and culture. Great food at reasonable prices. Napolitans are very friendly and extrovert. Its humid at nights. The presence of Maradona is literally everywhere since he is been worshiped as GOD (DIOS). The eye sight is always captivated by the charm of the buildings. The experienced traveler will not stick to few negative things such as the hasty scooter drivers or some dirt on the streets at nights since this is the result of an endless street party. Enjoy the Italian coffee, the local wines, the delicious dishes, the dominance of lemon and the never ending history of the city.

Close to the historical center of Napoli, this lovely boutique hotel is a haven of calm. The room was big, comfortable and decorated with a lot of taste.
The location is great close to the port, the train station and the historical center.
The host was great, friendly, reachable easily by WhatsApp, help me coordinate my shuttle to the airport and gave me great recommendations for restaurants.
It was the best hotel I visited in my two week Italy trip. Highly recommended if you visit Naples!
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. The pool areas were great and kept clean. A lovely view of Naples and the Volcano. A good base for our last couple of nights in Italy but the location was not ideal and there was no where to eat outside of the hotel but the lovely receptionist did order take out Pizza for us one night which we enjoyed sitting around the pool area.
Staying in that B&B was like being part of the Italian film La Grande Belezza -The Great Beauty. It makes you feel the grandeur of Naples and Italy throughout the centuries. Our bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was extra delicious. The stuff welcomed us like long awaited guests and made our stay very special.
The bedroom and bathroom were clean , and comfortable.
The Italian breakfast was served with a smile and nothing was any trouble. I am gluten free and she managed to get me gluten free ingredients for breakfast that on our journey through Italy big hotels didn’t.
