Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and cable cars. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.
At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.
While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of tunnels you can visit and even a Graeco-Roman theater which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!
Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artifacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.
As for accommodations, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city center apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

A beautiful city with a mix of historical and upcoming high rise building. The bay of Naples was very scenic with historic sites close by. The roads were congested with difficult to find parking places.

We arrived at a little stressed...the drivers in Italy are insane !! No sooner were we in the room when we got a knock on the door ... Darius with coffee and croissants. It was a wonderful welcome. This hotel is perfect for a night before a flight stay. It's basic but spotless, and nothing is too much bother. While the hotel is by busy road, it's not noisy and far enough from the airport not to be kept awake by the sound of planes.
This place is a true gem that makes you fall in love with Italy even more. It is not a hotel in the proper sense of the word - it’s your very warm and welcoming home in Naples. Inès, and her hard working team of Gheehan and Ravi make you feel like a long-awaited guest. And the studio of Vincenzo! A true cave of wonders. Loved every moment there and will be returning again and again.
The friendliest, kindest people I’ve ever stayed with. The whole team were so friendly, helpful and made it such a beautiful warm place to call home for a few days. They were all so helpful, inviting, gave great insight into Naples and how to take day trips to Amalfi, and around Italy. The beautiful breakfast on the terrace, my washing got done! Just the kindest people ever.
The property was very clean and smelled beautiful throughout the property. We travelled around Italy and stayed in 4/5 star hotels. This was the cleanest place we stayed in. The cleanliness was top tier. We stayed over prior to flying back home. The check in was easy and fast. Staff were friendly and professional. There’s a beautiful terrace on the roof top.
