Undulating beside the Bay of Naples, this UNESCO World Heritage city is a maze of narrow streets and cable cars. Although it has an incredible array of churches and monuments, it’s the sheer energy, pulsating life, and buzz of Vespas that really make it exciting.
At first you could mistake this for chaos, but given time you’ll see there’s method to the madness. The stunning, curved portico of the Royal Palace. The perfectly thin pizzas which originated here. The red pepper trinkets to ward off the evil eye adorning practically every old town doorway. All are crafted to perfection.
While all this goes on at street level, below is Underground Naples – a series of tunnels you can visit and even a Graeco-Roman theater which you stop at before emerging into someone’s house!
Head up to the Posillipo area for stunning views of the city and Vesuvius in the distance. The volcano itself can be visited and looking down from it towards Pompeii and Herculaneum gives context to the thousands of artifacts now on display in the city’s National Archaeological Museum.
As for accommodations, Booking.com has a wealth of hotels near Naples Airport, old town B&Bs, city center apartments and more to help you make the most of your stay.

Wonderful but the booking I made with Booking.com was disastrously doomed due to the operator's over-reliance upon my phone having charge for the paid and checked-in booking to be successfully accessed despite communicating the phone charge problem with the staff. Sadly doomed by procedural failure. Nothing short of robotic mindlessness about the real situation, and robotic to the point of simply not seeing what needed to be logistically facilitated as a normal check-in at the booked and paid accommodation. Brainless. Embarrassing. Deeply insulting.

Naples is massive.
Naples is massive. Some beautiful parts and some awful parts but this sums up any city in the world. Locals were helpful and friendly. There is so much to see and do. We didn’t have any problems and felt safe walking around.
For a wonderful swim head to the old NATO base , a great day out, massive swimming pool, restaurant etc. A hidden gem. Cost 35 euros for 2 for the day and that includes 2 sun beds and an umbrella.

Dirty, small streets and constantly some scouter is driving.
Dirty, small streets and constantly some scouter is driving. Can't enjoy a walk. Few places have English menu and even less speak. It definitely not a costal city. Beaches are dirty and fill with rocks. Almost everyone are trying to scam.

Naples is a bit of an eyesore in places and can look a bit unwelcoming in places like the side streets. Lots of graffiti everywhere. If you look past this then Naples is a good place to visit for a 2-3 days. Great base to get to Pompeii as well as Sorrento and the Amalfi coast as trains to these places cost under 10 euros.
Some of the side street can be a bit off putting as they look rough and moody but are safe to walk without any worry. We never felt unsafe regardless of where we went and of what time of the day we went.

It was convenient to get to Regia Di Caserta by train.
It was convenient to get to Regia Di Caserta by train. A beautiful palace.
Well worth a visit. The palace of Naples is also very lovely.
Naples is a dirty city and we were shocked at how much rubbish there was lying around.
We were also targeted by 3 pick pockets on the metro so it is crucial that all valuables are kept close to your person. They were not successful.
Excellent breakfast freshly cooked to order - best breakfast we had during our time in Italy. The rooms and bed were really comfortable. The hotel was set in lovely grounds and it was so nice to sit outside in an evening and also have our breakfast outside. The staff were lovely, very friendly and informative.
This is by far my favorite stay out of all the hotels or bed and breakfasts I was at during my time in Italy/Europe. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and very hospitable people. The staff were extremely helpful with guests and made an amazing breakfast. Would love to stay here again
The location was great with easy access to Naples and close to some excellant restaurants. The staff were really nice and helpful which is unusal for Italy!! They recommend a really nice restaurant Sgnora Bettola, the food was so good and really good value for money.
After staying in hotels/hostels in other cities in Italy I stayed here and was very happy with it. Very clean place and provide toiletries. It is close to good attractions and restaurants.
We realy enjoyed our stay. Location is amazing! Perfect place to walk around and enjoy Naples streets to feel true Italy. Room was nice and tidy. Also cleaned every day.
