The Mermaid & The Alligator, hotel in Key West

Boasting an outdoor swimming pool, a garden as well as a shared lounge, The Mermaid & The Alligator is situated in the centre of Key West, less than 1 km from South Beach.

First and foremost, we were welcomed by the lovely Olga (receptionist) who was highly attentive and detail oriented. She made us feel like VIP guests! She showed us around the property and then to our room. Everything was pristine and serene. We felt right at home immediately! Amenities: Beautiful, serene, modern, clean. The hotel offers free sunscreen, water, snacks & drinks, happy hour, coolers, and beach towels! Everything you could possibly need or want, they've thought of. Breakfast: Different menu options each day and it's made to order for you once you take your seat in the lovely, lush garden. Ana and Anielka were on staff in the kitchen and were very kind and quick to make our food. The ingredients were fresh with lots of yummy fruit options! Location: 10-20 minute drive or walk to downtown. Super convenient access to Duval street. We left our car parked the day we checked in and didn't use it the entire time we were there.

Island City House, hotel in Key West

Offering an outdoor pool, this historic Key West Island City House hotel is 2 minutes’ walk from the Key West sea port. Features include free WiFi, garden, and rooms with a kitchen.

We loved everything in this wonderful hotel! It felt like heaven! There is a lushious garden with a space to sit and read your book. Our room was amazing, we even had a private porch (we used it everyday to chill and read). This is a really special place and it made our stay at Key West absolutely incredible. The building’s architecture is great and we loved learning more about the history of the place.

FAQs about hotels in Key West

Plenty of Limes and Good Times

Key West is a gem of an island in the Florida Keys, popular with pleasure seekers and history buffs alike. As the most southern destination in the continental United States, Key West has a fascinating history, dating back to its settlement by Spanish explorers in the 16th century.

Today this little island off the coast of Florida attracts over a million cruise visitors a year through the Port of Key West. Visitors come to see Hemingway House, where Ernest Hemingway penned ‘A Farewell to Arms’. Key West Cemetery provides a unique walk through the multicultural past of the city. There are also trolley rides through the historic district of Jackson Square.

There’s more than just history to Key West, however. Smathers Beach is a place to have fun in the sun, while Mallory Square provides the chance to shop and watch a magnificent sunset. The excellent bus system helps you get around the island without a car.

Key West International Airport is a mere 6 kilometres to Duval Street, the heart of the city centre and a good place to stay for easily exploring the nearby sites. With accommodation ranging from resorts to B&Bs, Booking.com helps you get the best stay for the best price in Key West!

I can only advice to visit Key West, it has everything you need, nice beaches to relax, enternaining areas such as Duval Street, with nice restaurants and night life if that's what you're looking for, and Mallory Square. There are also different places to visit such as Hemingway House, Little white house. We really enjoyed taking the seaplane to Dry Tortugas National Park.

The people were extremely friendly and helpful. We were there for 5 nights and never came anyone who appears to be put out by helping us. It is so unusual to find such happy and helpful people so willing to help. What a refreshing attitude.

Key West is one of a kind.

Key West is one of a kind. It is an historic city full of charm. It is a very eclectic city. Bring an open mind. There are tons of activities. Great Bars, Restaurants and Water Activities. Know that it is crowded and I think best for adults. Top city for bachelor and bachelorettes parties. Do not expect beaches.. there are a few but it is not Miami Beach. (If you are into beaches go to the mainland). Great music.. Green Parrot#1 Sloppy Joes, Hogs Breath, Smokin Tuna, Coffee Butler Amphitheater, Key West Theater, Red Barn theater.... and many more. Be prepared to walk. A car is useless..and parking is expensive$$$ If you don't like to walk rent a bike or scooter. Go out on the water.. sunset sail? Fishing, Diving, Snorkel or Sandbar. I believe a long weekend.. (4 days) is perfect! After that you may need to detox!

Everything! The staff at check-in was so friendly and helpful orienting me to the property and surrounding areas. They gave me a map and told me general info about Duvall Street nearby. With their helpful info I was able to get around and see all the sights I wanted. The hotel has free parking, which was a factor in selecting it, but it got even better. At check-out, staff told me I could still keep my car at the hotel for 2-3 hours afterward. Paid parking is basically everywhere in Key West so this was an exceptional bonus!

The place is a great Oas in the center of Key West, walking distance to all the sights and restaurants. The pool is amazing and the staff is world class, they helped us with everything and we felt very welcomed with our 14 month old baby! They all made sure that we had the best possible stay! Also appreciated was the happy hour at 5! Parking garage was also a bonus! Thanks Truman Hotel & Staff! We will be back someday

Great hotel with large room. Location is quite far out of the centre of Key West but there is a shuttle bus to take you in and bring you back. Lovely pool and very close to the oceanfront. Some planes overhead due to proximity to airport but didn't bother us and didn't hear them overnight. A great base to explore Key West.

The hotel is in an excellent location right in the center, but still on the quiet side. The courtyard pool is small but nice. Parking was included in the room, but it is located three blocks away (better than nothing, Key West parking spaces are hard to come by). The room was clean and spacious enough.
