Key West is a gem of an island in the Florida Keys, popular with pleasure seekers and history buffs alike. As the most southern destination in the continental United States, Key West has a fascinating history, dating back to its settlement by Spanish explorers in the 16th century.
Today this little island off the coast of Florida attracts over a million cruise visitors a year through the Port of Key West. Visitors come to see Hemingway House, where Ernest Hemingway penned ‘A Farewell to Arms’. Key West Cemetery provides a unique walk through the multicultural past of the city. There are also trolley rides through the historic district of Jackson Square.
There’s more than just history to Key West, however. Smathers Beach is a place to have fun in the sun, while Mallory Square provides the chance to shop and watch a magnificent sunset. The excellent bus system helps you get around the island without a car.

So much free live music a great variety of food and open container. Who could ask for more? We've visited over 30 times and have never seen an altercation. Super fun let loose atmosphere. Catch a concert at the Ampitheater or pick up a sandwich at Whitehead st deli and watch the water

The island may be small but had a lot to see.
The island may be small but had a lot to see. Tourist shops filled with island vibes, more bars than anywhere else, historic buildings, iconic places and an eclectic mix of people. Lots of good places to eat and several small beaches to explore. Best way to see the islands is to get a scooter or bike.

We loved the area and my only frustration is the number of homeless people in the area. I realize this is not a fault of the city but going to a destination to enjoy and still having to be confronted by homeless will keep me from returning.

The water, beaches and scenery were beautiful. The atmosphere on Duval St was ok to for one day. We found it hard to find better quality food and dining at reasonable prices.
We enjoyed Moon Dog for breakfast, Bobs on Margaret for dinner and also Santiago Bordega for dinner.

If you like drinking and partying it is your place but be careful it’s super expensive, by the way everything is expensive in Key West. One thing surprised all my group was the smell of trash and the vomit on the street especially on Duval street.

It is a noisy tourist trap.
It is a noisy tourist trap. There were some amazing meals---almost all the restaurant food was superb (although two were horrible in every way).
Beaches are disappointing. In the middle of Christmas week, when the country was bracing for an arctic front, this was warm and sunny.
There was live music everywhere, some of it was fabulous. Some good historical sites (Hemmingway House, Truman's Little White House, Ft Taylor, Lightouse).

This is a great hotel. Friendly staff. Undercover parking- which is a treat in Key West. The pool is inviting and I loved the casual seating outside our rooms. The continental buffet breakfast was a great start to the day as was the coffee! Our room was spacious and comfortable
Following our recent stay at The Gardens Hotel in Key West, we would like to express our satisfaction with its style, decoration, good taste in every detail, as well as the efficiency and friendlyness of all the staff. We strongly recommend it and hope to visit it again.
Great location for hotel at the bottom of Duval Street and close by to the Southernmost Point which is a bit of a tourist attraction in Key West. Rooms were spacious, clean and beds very comfortable. Pool area is in the middle of the car park but secluded and nice.
A super nice "small hotel".
With a perfect distance to the center of key west. It is wonderfully peaceful and quiet. But it is possible to walk or cycle to Duval st.
It was continental breakfast, but of a better quality one expected.
We only slept here one night. Quite an expensive hotel, but that's Key West. Close to many restaurants, about half an hour's walk to the center. Possibility to rent bicycles (for a fee).
