This is a beautiful boutique hotel, right at the heart of Old Kotor. The staff were, from the very beginning of the booking, really friendly and helpful.
It's not exactly easy to find, but the more you explore the town you realise it's actually quite hard to miss! It sounds odd but trust me, you'll see what I mean.
Our room was beautiful and looked over the little square. At night there was music from the bars next door but it didn't keep us awake. We knew to expect this from reading other reviews, so maybe take earplugs if you're sensitive to people enjoying a drink after 10pm.
Breakfast was lovely, everything you need to set you up for a good explore of the town and maybe a walk up to the fortress.
The free parking for the hotel was a great bonus. Just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
I would really recommend Hotel Monte Cristo and its terrific staff.

I strongly recommend choosing the hotel. From the moment you arrive, you receive VIP and pampering personal treatment from the hotel staff.
The views from the hotel are amazing.
The location of the hotel is 30-40 minutes walk to the old city, walking along a lovely promenade along the sea with resturants and cafe shops.
It is possible to rent a motor boat and tours to the bay, from the hotel's dock. And there is the possibility of swimming in the sea in a private and secluded place. The breakfast is delicious and rich, including a menu for a main dish.

Incredible location in a beautiful and peaceful part of kotor bay. We rented bikes from the hotel and cycled to kotor old town (3km), which was a perfect day trip, and the rest of the time we swam in the lake. Service was excellent - friendly and helpful. And the food at all meals in the restaurant was a real highlight. A fantastic stay and we we would highly recommend it.

Traffic congestion and finding parking in Kotor are challenging - my only recommendation regarding this is to get there early. Old town is lovely and a guided walking tour is highly recommended to discover the history and visit the most important buildings. However, it is frequently overwhelmed by visitors. (sometimes there were 4 cruise ships visiting!) A 3 hr boat tour or the Bay is a must and there are many places/people selling these so no real need to book in advance. Market is disappointingly small although we were told that it's bigger on Saturday. Cable car up to the National Park is worthwhile, if only for the views. Take a walk up to the city wall fort (15Euros, 1400 steps, 45 -60mins).

We loved Kotor. The old town is quaint and interesting. We did a walking tour with Viator which was very informative. It’s definitely worth walking up to the old fort where you get a great view over the town and lake. It’s €15. There are some good restaurants: La Cathedral Pasta Bar(get there early as it’s very popular and one can’t book) and Portun is great, on the water’s edge. You can walk all along the edge of the water on a walkway. The beach is small but nice! We enjoyed a boat trip to the Blue Lake and the old Yugoslavian submarine tunnels. We had 3 days there which was sufficient but if you want to explore the surrounding area you might want another day.

You have to pay a visit to Kotor when coming to Montenegro! We loved the boat trip that took us to the small islands and blue caves. The old town is gorgeous you could walk around the streets all day. Lots of lovely restaurants, bars, coffee shops and gelato stands. Cruises do come in quite often which can make the town quite busy but we never had a problem with this!
We didn’t climb the wall of Kotor as people say it takes about 3 hours to complete both ways, but if you’re up for a challenge then go for it!
We’ve also heard the cable cart is amazing too!
The apartment is equipped with everything you could need: plates, pans, pots, cups, glasses, bowls, cutlery, refrigerator, washing machine.
the location is very good: we walked to the beach, in the old town and by car to Porto Montenegro, Tivat, Perast and even Dubrovnik.
The hosts are very nice and waited for us with cold water, wine, cakes and ice cubes.
They were very attentive to details (coffee, clothes/dish detergent, salt, pepper, soap, shower gel, towels) and helped us with all the information needed.
Hostel Pupa is situated at an amazing location, just a couple minutes from the old town of Kotor, and directly at the port with an amazing view of the surrounding mountains and the bay of Kotor.
The staff was very helpful and kind, giving tips and information for various activities around the city but also for other activities throughout the country.
Would love to go back when I’m in Montenegro again🩷
Perfect location. Beautiful one bedroom apartment for the three of us. It was light, airy and comfortable. We had a gorgeous view looking up to the fort which I imagine is quite rare in old town Kotor. The setting is stunning. Our host was very helpful and friendly. In fact the people of Montenegro were really nice.
Good location, within walking distance from Kotor old town. Clean rooms, nice balcony, possible to park behind hotel at good price. Not noisy to sleep when balcony doors closed.
