Great range of small, independent shops, plenty of choice. Great selection of eateries - cafes, bars, restaurants and pubs. A number of local attractions - The Tavistock Guildhall, St Eustachius' Church with its William Morris stained glass window, and others. Well worth a weekend visit.

Pleasant market town with a wide range of restaurants, including Indian and Chinese, and the award-winning Cornish Arms. Brilliant fish and chips. Interesting vintage market (Pannier Market), historic buildings and connections. Fine Church of St Eustachius. Well-tended gardens, good range of shops. Regulated (free) parking in places (5 p.m. to 10 a.m.).

Tavistock is a beautiful moorland town, with plenty of attractions, particularly the pannier market. There are bars and cafes aplenty and it's a lovely place to stay. This trip was only for one night but we've been here several times previously.

Maybe more clothes shops not much choice at this time.

Maybe more clothes shops not much choice at this time. Cafes are lovely lots of choice and variety of foods. The church lane cafe is amazing good food and excellent service. The market doesn’t appear as busy on my recent visits.

An ideal size - could all be done on foot but with enough dining and drinking choices. Handsome architecture of local stone and granite. We recommend the Pannier Market (historic, with interesting stalls including unusually good second-hand books, and all under cover). The church, formerly adjacent to a monastery (of which a few traces remain) has a stained glass window by William Morris and Burne-Jones.

I highly recommend this beautiful guest house to anyone visiting the area. The owner couldn't have been any nicer when I arrived, spending time showing me around and explaining where everything was. The location is right in the heart of Tavistock. So everything is all within a short walking distance. The room was lovely with the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in. Everything was exceptionally well presented with high standards of cleanliness. I really couldn't recommend One Drake Road highly enough.

Great base for exploring Devon and Cornwall in the car, but also great scenery and walking in the immediate area. So peaceful! Particularly liked the large shower and the massive comfy bed.
