Food was excellent, and breakfast was prepared fresh each morning, the staff were very attentive and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. The place was very clean throughout the three days of our stay. Our room was serviced each morning while at breakfast and without asking. The property is well maintained in and out giving a real sense of attention to detail for a small accommodation provider. Something often lacking in larger establishments

Pleasant market town with a wide range of restaurants, including Indian and Chinese, and the award-winning Cornish Arms. Brilliant fish and chips. Interesting vintage market (Pannier Market), historic buildings and connections. Fine Church of St Eustachius. Well-tended gardens, good range of shops. Regulated (free) parking in places (5 p.m. to 10 a.m.).

Tavistock is a beautiful moorland town, with plenty of attractions, particularly the pannier market. There are bars and cafes aplenty and it's a lovely place to stay. This trip was only for one night but we've been here several times previously.

The church lane cafe is amazing good food and excellent service. The market doesn’t appear as busy on my recent visits.

An ideal size - could all be done on foot but with enough dining and drinking choices. Handsome architecture of local stone and granite. We recommend the Pannier Market (historic, with interesting stalls including unusually good second-hand books, and all under cover). The church, formerly adjacent to a monastery (of which a few traces remain) has a stained glass window by William Morris and Burne-Jones.

I live close to the center of Tavistock and was on a trip while I sorted things at home. Sometimes it is good to detach from the absolute familiar. Tavistock is a quiet, dreamy place in the main but has some night life centering around restaurants and take aways . The remaining public houses generally provide a warm welcome with a range of facilities across the board. Shopping: a good range of supermarkets, independent stores and franchises. Leisure pursuits are various in and around the town. It remains a satellite to The City of Plymouth however, with an other worldly quality. Not a suburb. Any recommendations would be biased.

Good Market town with lots of little shops but like most town starting to show signs of a down turn, has some free no street parking which is good but the council are planning to install parking meters which will kill the high street.
One Drake Road is a lovely quaint little gem in the heart of Tavistock, central to all local restaurants and shops. From start to finish we were made to feel welcome by Iain and Jack from the classical music playing in our room when we arrived, to the recommendations by Iain of where to go and what to do, to Jack getting us into The Cornish Arms when we couldn't! Their home is gorgeous and uniquely decorated throughout, with each room individually decorated the whole place has a nice homely feel to it. A huge thank you to them both!
The central location, walled car park and good old-fashioned comfort are the reasons we returned here.
It is a well-run, county-type hotel, popular with locals and visitors alike. It is spacious, with multiple lounges and meeting areas and offers a good restaurant menu and excellent cooked breakfasts. Characterful shopping is a short step from the door with various pubs and cafes. The church opposite and the town square with its pannier market as well as the individual architecture make it a charming place to stay.
We were made very welcome by Sandra & Arthur, with tea and cakes offered to us on arrival. Sandra also gave us extra advice about visiting the area. Good cooked English breakfast and generous size home cooked evening meal. Room was fine for a few days stay.
Highlight of the stay was a tour of the farm including the sheep and cows in all the fields and the goats shed where there was also a nest of swallows. Beautiful peaceful location with great personal service, nothing like a chain hotel.
In the heart of Tavistock . Room 101, a twin room was at the front and nice and quiet with double glazing. Beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom is refurbished with a great shower. Although there is no reception area, the staff we did meet were incredibly helpful and friendly . Tea and coffee facilities in the room with biscuits and a bottle of water. We really enjoyed our stay
