Skeabost House Hotel, hotel in Portree

If you are looking for luxury accommodation with great Highland Hospitality in Skye, then look no further than historic Skeabost House Hotel, a family owned boutique hotel, part of the Sonas Hotel...

Beautiful hotel. Plenty of room for parking. Staff was very friendly. Assisted us with our bags to our room. Dinner was amazing, with great views. Breakfast was served in a separate room. Lots of options. Cold and hot items to choose from. Also, the perk for us is we were away from the crazy traffic/town. But this hotel was about 15 minutes away from Portree. So you are close to gift shops, Boots Pharmacy, and restaurants if needed. In Portree you will have to pay to park. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to family and friends.

We used Portree as our base for 2 days of photography tours of Skye. Portree had more to explore than we had time for in our plans. It was simple for us to get around on foot. We would welcome an opportunity to visit Portree again.

Quite a pretty town with exactly what you’d expect, or; gift shops, cafe’s, etc. Not particularly large. Overlooks an inlet with individually painted cottages along the quay. For a great lunch, go to Birch’s

As two senior ladies, we felt so comfortable walking around Portree! The shopping was so different, independent shops including local crafts made each store a new experience. We loved the charity shop where we found original prints of gorgeous Skye locations!

An absolute tourist trap without the infrastructure to accommodate the numbers coming in. Not enough parking, difficult to get a restaurant table and nothing to see there anyway. All the tourist attractions in Skye are well beyond Portree. Avoid!

Portree itself was pretty but it was totally crammed with tourists, tourist buses and motor homes so finding parking was very hard even in the long term carpark in quite a small town. Trying to get a decent sit down meal at lunchtime was very difficult as a lot of places didn’t open for lunch or if open were packed with long waiting times just to get seated. Even take away venues had very long queues. We didn’t venture out for evening meals as our hosts advised it was almost impossible to get a booking during peak holiday season

Staff are so friendly always smiling ,happy to help and very welcoming. Food downstairs in The Antlers Restaurant is lovely and helpings are good too .Right in the central square of Portree with shops ,chemist ,pubs, cafes ,coffee shops, post office local buses, tour buses ,taxis etc just right out the front door of the hotel or a few minutes walk If you. *Advise you to reserve your Dinner Table when making your booking .The restaurant is popular with Islanders and Holiday makers so it can be busy.

Wonderful family cottage near Portree; surrounded by nature. The room is superb. Everything well thought out in the smallest details. Homemade and well made breakfast. The hostess Georgia was extremely friendly and helpful. There would not be a better option. Place to park in the house and free of charge. Superior to many 4 and 5 star hotels I have stayed in Scotland.

What a beautiful hotel this is! It is in a stunning position outside Portree and on our two week road trip it was certainly one of the best places that we stayed. The room was beautiful with a lovely view of Portree harbour, the fixtures were immaculate and very new, the staff were very helpful and friendly and extremely accommodating.

The staff were surly and unfriendly. The hotel rate was exorbitant despite being in Portree. The beds were too soft and lumpy. The towels and teabags etc were not replenished due to lack of supplies and staff. Very disappointing considering the cost of rooms.

    * Hotels in Portree are apparently booked even in the middle of October, so you don't have many choices. I picked this hotel because it offered a larger room than other hotels in the area. * Lady at reception was somewhat helpful.
